Assistant Project Manager I

W.G. Yates & Sons Construction Company has multiple openings available for the position of Assistant Project Manager I with the following qualifications:

Requires U.S. Bachelor’s or foreign equivalent in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Management or related field. Proficient using AutoCAD to draft 3D drawings with failure mode analysis to enhance inventory management and support process improvement initiatives in an industrial or construction setting. Background check and drug test required. Periodic relocation to unanticipated client construction sites anywhere in the U.S. every 9 to 24 months.

Job duties for the position include:
Assist project managers in performing engineering duties related to planning, designing, and overseeing the construction and post-construction phases of multimillion-dollar construction projects in a commercial setting, utilizing KPI dashboards to track project progress, resource allocation, and performance metrics. Attend Building Information Modeling (BIM) coordination meetings with specialty contractors to address potential conflicts and align design. Assist with implementing and maintaining quality control processes to ensure construction projects meet design specifications, industry standards, and safety regulations, using KPI dashboards to monitor defect rates, compliance, and quality performance. Utilize design software to assist with redrafting and refining 3D drawings, ensuring accuracy and constructability, and integrate updated drawings into project workflows while communicating changes to relevant teams. Track engineering drawing changes and responsible for distribution of drawing changes to all trade partners. Under the guidance of project managers, the Assistant Project Manager reviews and manages all Requests for Information (RFI) documents and submittals to identify and resolve gaps, conflicts, or ambiguities during the bidding or early construction phases, minimizing the need for costly corrective measures. Assist in estimating the quantity and cost of materials, equipment, and labor for project bidding and execution, as well as monitor project budgets using KPI dashboards to ensure alignment with financial goals and cost control measures. Maintain accurate records of As-Builts, non-conformity reports (NCRs) and other essential document controls. Assist and work with supervisors, subcontractors and trade partners to ensure project specifications are met and assist in resolving issues that arise during construction to minimize project delays and disruptions. Support project managers during inspections of project sites to monitor progress, ensure alignment with design specifications, safety and sanitation standards. Review risk management issues with project managers, develop mitigation strategies, and use KPI dashboards to assess potential risks and track mitigation effectiveness.
