ASSISTANT PROPERTY MANAGER – AFFORDABLE HOUSING

Position Overview


The Assistant Property Manager supports all aspects of community operations, including resident relations, compliance, leasing, rent collections, and administrative functions.


This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, excels in a fast-paced environment, and wants to grow a career in affordable housing management. We are seeking an organized, service-oriented Assistant Property Manager who enjoys helping residents, solving problems, and supporting daily property operations. The ideal candidate is passionate about helping provide stable housing to underserved communities and creating a positive living experience for residents.


Key Responsibilities


  • Resident Relations
    • Address resident concerns and service requests professionally and promptly
    • Assist with conflict resolution and resident communications
    • Process move-ins, move-outs, and lease renewals
    • Support resident engagement initiatives and community events


  • Affordable Housing Compliance
    • Maintain compliance with HUD, LIHTC, Section 8, and affordable housing requirements
    • Process certifications and recertifications
    • Maintain accurate resident files and documentation
    • Assist during audits and compliance reviews


  • Leasing & Occupancy
    • Conduct property tours
    • Respond to applicant inquiries
    • Assist with application processing and lease preparation
    • Support occupancy and retention goals


  • Operations & Administration
    • Coordinate maintenance requests and follow-up
    • Assist with rent collection and delinquency management
    • Prepare reports and maintain property records
    • Conduct routine inspections of units and common areas
    • Support budget tracking and administrative functions


Qualifications

    • 1-3 years of property management experience
    • Affordable housing experience preferred
    • Knowledge of HUD, LIHTC, or Section 8 programs preferred
    • Strong customer service and communication skills
    • Excellent organization and attention to detail
    • Ability to multitask in a high-volume environment
    • Experience with property management software

The pay range for this role is:
