Begins as an entry level Assistant Prosecutor in a learning capacity and, with increasing experience and competence, works as an intermediate or developing-level assistant prosecutor. Beginning emphasis is on legal research, with increasing responsibility for general trial work. As trial skills develop may be assigned a limited felony caseload, in addition to district court and juvenile/family court responsibilities.
This is a full-time benefited position working out of the Holland District Courthouse. Typical working hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Graduation from an accredited law school. No prior professional legal experience is required.
Licenses and Certifications:
Must be a member in good standing of the State Bar of Michigan.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations, including, but not limited to, visual and/or audiological appliances and devices to increase mobility.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Majority of work is performed in courtrooms and normal office environments. Requires regular travel throughout the county. Direct contact and exposure to individuals charged with and/or convicted of a variety of criminal charges.
