Assistant Prosecuting Attorney, Ionia County

Assistant Prosecuting Attorney, Ionia County - Full-time, 37.5 hrs/week

Ionia County is conveniently located between Lansing and Grand Rapids with I-96 passing through the county.

We are a smaller office serving a rural community with the unique situation of being home to three prison facilities.

  • The Assistant Prosecuting Attorney (APA) can be exposed to all responsibilities and facets of a Prosecutor’s Office: civil infractions, misdemeanors, felonies, juvenile delinquency, and more.
  • The APA will mainly be responsible for handling a portion of the District Court (misdemeanor) docket with progressive responsibilities. This includes, but is not limited to: reviewing warrant requests, conducting plea negotiations, and drafting and responding to motions/appeals.
  • Strong oral advocacy skills are required, as the APA will be expected to conduct various hearings, preliminary exams, bench and jury trials.

Wage range of $76,684 to $93,906, dependent on applicant’s relevant experience, plus on-call pay, annual step increases, and excellent benefits.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school
  • Member in good standing with the Michigan State Bar
