Assistant Prosecutor

The City of Springfield is currently accepting applications for the unclassified position of Assistant Prosecutor! The Assistant Prosecutor is responsible for entry-level professional legal work in the office of the Director of Law. Work involves having a firm grasp of legal research and writing, good time-management skills, and a willingness to participate in trials. The successful candidate is expected to be able to prepare cases from initial filing through trial and appeal, possessing the ability to communicate effectively with Court personnel, staff, law enforcement, witnesses, and public officials. The Assistant Prosecuting Attorney must be able to be present in the office during normal work hours of 8 am -5 pm, Monday through Friday, and routinely travel to and from court. Work is performed under the general supervision of a more experienced attorney. New attorneys encouraged to apply.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Represents the City in criminal and traffic matters.Performs legal research; drafts documents; analyzes legal problems and drafts opinions.Provides other general legal and administrative support and assistance consistent with the legal profession and responsibilities of the City Prosecutor’s Office.Performs all other related duties as assigned
