Assistant Registrar (Emirati)

Job Purpose

The Deputy / Assistant Registrar supports the Registrar of Companies in executing statutory, regulatory, and operational functions related to company registration, licensing, and compliance. The role ensures adherence to applicable UAE laws, regulatory frameworks, and internal governance standards, while maintaining high service delivery and stakeholder engagement.


Key Responsibilities

1. Regulatory & Legal Oversight

  • Support the administration and interpretation of relevant laws (Companies Law, Operating Law, Insolvency, etc.)
  • Provide guidance on regulatory matters related to registration and licensing
  • Assist in drafting policies, procedures, and regulatory frameworks

2. Registration & Licensing

  • Oversee company incorporation, licensing, and classification processes
  • Ensure compliance with SLAs, regulatory standards, and internal procedures
  • Escalate complex or high-risk cases with recommendations

3. Compliance & Risk Management

  • Support implementation of compliance frameworks (AML/CFT, ESR, FATCA, CRS)
  • Coordinate with internal compliance and inspection teams
  • Assist in enforcement actions and regulatory reporting

4. Governance & Committees

  • Support and participate in internal committees (e.g., Registration Review Committee)
  • Prepare reports, agendas, and decision documentation
  • Ensure adherence to governance frameworks

5. Stakeholder Management

  • Liaise with government entities and regulatory authorities
  • Engage with internal stakeholders and external partners
  • Represent the Registrar when delegated

6. Operations & Service Excellence

  • Improve registry processes and digital systems
  • Ensure accuracy of public records and data integrity
  • Monitor KPIs and recommend process improvements

7. Leadership & Team Support

  • Support team management, coaching, and development
  • Approve routine matters under delegated authority
  • Contribute to workforce planning and capability building

Candidate Profile

Experience

  • 8–12 years in legal, regulatory, or government-related roles
  • Experience in UAE government, free zones, or regulatory bodies preferred

Skills & Knowledge

  • Strong knowledge of UAE legal and regulatory frameworks
  • Understanding of AML/CFT, ESR, FATCA, CRS
  • Strong analytical, decision-making, and stakeholder management skills

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Law (Master’s preferred)
  • Legally qualified (preferred)
  • Fluent in English and Arabic

Nationality Requirement

  • UAE National (Emirati)
