ABOUT THE ROLE:
As an Assistant Retail Manager, you will work closely with the Retail Manager to maintain operational excellence, drive sales, and uphold MKC’s brand standards. You will assist in team leadership, merchandising decisions, inventory control, and community engagement initiatives. This position requires flexibility, problem-solving skills, and a proactive approach to supporting both staff and customers.
As an Assistant Retail Manager, you will work closely with the Retail Manager to maintain operational excellence, drive sales, and uphold MKC’s brand standards. You will assist in team leadership, merchandising decisions, inventory control, and community engagement initiatives. This position requires flexibility, problem-solving skills, and a proactive approach to supporting both staff and customers.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support the Retail Manager in achieving store performance goals and KPIs.
- Assist with staff scheduling, onboarding, and training programs.
- Help maintain visual merchandising standards and ensure product displays align with MKC branding.
- Provide guidance and coaching to team members to foster a positive work environment.
- Monitor inventory accuracy and assist with back-of-house operations, including cash handling and reporting.
- Contribute to local marketing efforts and community events to strengthen brand presence.
- Address customer inquiries and resolve issues promptly to ensure satisfaction.
- Collaborate with the Retail Manager and online store team for consistent customer experiences across channels.
- Uphold compliance with store policies, security protocols, and operational procedures.
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- 2+ years of experience in retail or customer service; leadership experience preferred.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Working knowledge of MS Office and POS systems (TOAST experience a plus).
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Passion for the outdoor industry and MKC’s mission.
