JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Assistant Scientist will join a highly interactive and collaborative research team to study the effects of drugs of abuse and HIV infection on the vasculature. The Assistant Scientist must be willing to work on several different projects involving infectious agents, drugs of abuse, and microfluidic models of the vasculature (lung, salivary glands, larynx, aorta, barriers of the CNS). In addition, the Assistant Scientist will be in charge of proper record keeping of methodology, experimental plan, results etc. It is also expected that the scientist will analyze data, perform analyses, present results, and prepare data for publication. The successful candidate will be encouraged to facilitate collaborative research efforts with other laboratories and to train laboratory personnel (including students) in research methods, procedures, and equipment.



EXPECTED SALARY:

$80,000



REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Highly motivated individual capable of working independently or as part of a team.
  • Proficient in standard lab/office equipment and software, including MS Office.
  • Willingness to work with infectious agents.
  • Experience with cell culture and animal models
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrate organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks.
  • Ability to keep accurate records of research performed to NIH standards.
  • Ability to interact with collaborators, which includes students, faculty, and staff.

PREFERRED:
Experience with endothelial cells, computer-aided design modeling and software, microfluidic models, and microscopy
