Assistant Site Coordinator

Job Description

Working in partnership with underserved schools, Reading Power provides one-to-one tutoring during the school day for children in preschool through second grade.Our mission is to accelerate children's literacy learning and to develop a love of reading and writing.

The Assistant Site Coordinator will work closely with the Site Coordinator and report to the Director of Programs.

Responsibilities include:

  • Participate in staff training and monthly meetings
  • Participate in tutor training and events
  • Attend school literacy events
  • Prepare materials for tutoring
  • Help to maintain accurate records
  • Monitor student progress via assessments, student folders, and daily lesson plan
  • Organize classroom and resources for tutors
  • Tutor at least two students
  • Model tutoring and be a resource for tutors
  • Contribute to tutor meetings
  • Be prepared to step in for the site coordinator when necessary
  • Assist with classroom management
  • Assist with teacher, school, parent, and tutor communication
  • Serve as a Reading Power ambassador

Qualifications:

  • College degree required
  • Experience working with children
  • Knowledge about early literacy preferred
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative
  • Strong organization and communication skills
  • Proficiency with technology and Google platforms
  • Passion for the organization and mission
  • Part-time position, 3 days/week, $23-25/hr
