    Job Summary

    The Assistant Sports Performance Coach assists coaches in all aspects of the annual strength program. Provide professional knowledge, technical expertise, and supervisory skills to oversee all aspects of the strength and conditioning programs designated by the immediate supervisor. This position is responsible for the design, implementation, and supervision of year-long strength and conditioning programs designated by the immediate supervisor.

    Core Responsibilities
    • Assists in all aspects of assigned athletic programs.
    • Designs, implements, and supervises the yearlong strength and conditioning programs designated by the immediate supervisor
    • Aids in supervision of the athletic weight room.
    • Aids in supervision of Graduate Assistants, Interns, and Work Study Students.
    • Aids in the cleanliness and upkeep of the athletic weight room and equipment.
    • Travels with designated sport team or teams when in-season.
    • Communicates with sports medicine staff daily.
    • Communicates with the sport coach or coaches daily.
    • Attends professional development opportunities as approved by supervisor.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Required Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree in related field.
    • CPR and Basic First Aid Certification.
    • Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) or Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC).
    • One (1) year of related work experience.
    • This position requires the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure.

    Working Conditions
    • Ten-to fourteen-hour days on the floor, coaching, on the field, coaching, and in the office.
    • Weekend, holiday, and summer hours as required.
    • Ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions, or other business-related events.
    • Workdays, areas, and work hours may vary depending on the department's needs.

    Physical Demands
    • Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.

    This position will work primarily on campus. Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility.

    This position is contingent upon a successful background check. Verification of a valid driver's license and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) may be completed as applicable. Applicants selected must be able to show proof of eligibility to work in the United States by time of hire.
