- $25- $27 per hour, depending on qualifications

- Located at Water Treatment Plant (14100 Technology Drive, Eden Prairie, MN 55344)
- Business hours are 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 pm, flexibility within business hours preferred. Hours may vary based upon business needs. Average hours are 20 hours/week. Spring and Fall are busier times of year and hours will increase.
Responsibilities
The Assistant Support Specialist - Utilities Division ensures smooth operations by supporting the water treatment staff, field operations staff, and division leaders. The primary position responsibilities and areas of impact are:
- Develops and maintains positive partnerships with residents, contractors, vendors, co-workers, and the public via in person or telephone. Provides excellent customer service by responding to individuals, businesses and government organizations in a polite, timely, and professional manner.
- Creates an exceptional brand experience for the public and co-workers. Provides administrative and project planning support for various internal and external events, projects and meetings. Schedules water treatment plant tours and conducts educational program portion of each tour. Coordinates trainings including space and equipment needs. Coordinates the City’s customer rebate program for water conservation and landscaping improvements.
- Schedules commercial and residential water meter appointments for meter repairs and customer service visits. Learns and provides support to the water metering program as required, and utilizes specialized software for the maintenance, inventory, and tracking of utility operations, water meter operations, customer water use, and customer utility account management.
- Provides administrative back up support to the Support Specialist – Utilities Division requiring availability during planned absences such as vacation, training, meeting attendance, etc. Provides support and records management for staff and division leaders.
- Provides general administrative support to the division. Tracks, inventories, and issues temporary water meters; records usage, receives meters, collects fees, receives fire-suppression information requests and responds by providing fire-flow model reports in a timely manner. Coordinates customer credits for water leaks in accordance with city policies. Coordinates the administration of lawn watering violations and the permitting of irrigation outside of our standard parameters, i.e. exceptions for odd even restrictions for customers who are establishing new lawns.
- Assists the department with administrative tasks by maintaining office supplies and general use products, coordinating copy machine maintenance, placing facility service orders, obtaining quotes for services and supplies, performing mail distribution. Provides technical support by compiling reports and updating calendars.
While these areas are the primary focus of this position, we believe strongly in teamwork and employees will be called upon to perform a variety of duties as a part of their role with the City.
Requirements
- Associates degree or two-year technical degree in a related field required.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of three years of relevant work experience required.
- Previous administrative experience with Public Works/Utilities preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat required.
- Physical effort is light for the majority of work with lifting or carrying limited to 25 pounds intermittently. Report preparation and writing at times requires extended use of a keyboard. Most work is performed in a normal office environment. Occasionally drives to pick up food or office supplies, or to attend off-site meetings. Position may involve calming emotionally charged individuals.
- Candidates must successfully complete and pass the City’s evaluation of the pre-employment process prior to their first day of employment. Pre-employment processes for this position include professional reference checks, background check, work history verification, and education verification.
