Position Overview:
We are seeking a caring, energetic, and reliable Early Childhood Educator to join our team in a classroom of infants ranging from six-weeks-old - twelve-months-old. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children in a licensed childcare setting, possess excellent time management skills, a nurturing attitude and a genuine passion for helping children grow and succeed. This Infant classroom operates in a way that meets each child's needs on their own schedule. The Assistant Infant teacher helps the Lead Teacher with all daily tasks in the classroom. The schedule for this position is 9:00am - 6:00pm
Responsibilities:
- Create a warm, welcoming, and nurturing classroom environment.
- Daily care and supervision of the children for both indoor and outdoor activities.
- Follow children's individualized lesson plans to promote social, emotional, and cognitive growth.
- Track and preform diaper changes to align with NC sanitation guidelines.
- Maintain sleep logs for all Infants in care.
- Assist with taking the Infants outside each day weather permitting.
- Assists in preparing children to move up to the toddler classroom.
- Preparing, and serving infant foods including bottles at children's scheduled feeding times.
- Entering children's daily reports into Procare and providing two-way communication with parents.
- Foster respectful and supportive relationships with children, families, and team members.
- Ensure safety, cleanliness, and organization of the classroom.
- Maintaining daily/monthly attendance records.
- Maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.
- Working closely with administrators to ensure all program needs are met.
- Attending required trainings and staff meetings.
- Participating in ongoing staff training to further advance skills and knowledge.
- Cleaning and closing the classroom to prepare for the next day.
- The ability to be on your feet significant portion of the day and or get in the floor with children.
- The ability to lift 35 pounds safely.
Qualifications:
- Experience working with Infants (required).
- Ability to maintain a classroom environment in a nurturing, supportive way.
- Passion and drive to help children succeed in all areas of development.
- Understanding of child development and appropriate expectations/milestones.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; degree or coursework in Early Childhood Education is a plus but not required.
- Must be dependable, compassionate, and a team player.
- NC Early Childhood Credentials is required, or the applicant must be willing to enroll in the class within six months and pass the class within one year of hire.
- Minimum of 2-years of childcare experience in a licensed childcare setting preferably with infants or toddlers.
- Infant, child, and adult CPR & First Aid or be willing to obtain within 90 days of employment.
- Negative TB test required before start date.
- NC Criminal Records Qualification Letter from NC Division of Health and Human Services required before start date.
- Staff health assessment required before start date.
