The University of Southern Mississippi invites applicants for a full-time, 12-month, non-tenure-track faculty position as Assistant Teaching Professor/Business, Education, and Human Sciences Librarian in the University Libraries Gulf Coast Library to begin in the fall of 2026.

Job Summary
The Business, Education, and Human Sciences Librarian is a member of a team responsible for providing general and specialized research, instruction, outreach, and collection development services. The position serves as University Libraries’ (UL) primary contact with the College of Business and Economic Development, supporting instructional and research resource needs on the Hattiesburg and Long Beach campuses. The position serves as the primary contact between UL and Gulf Coast programs in the College of Education and Human Sciences, supporting instructional and research resource needs. The position engages in outreach initiatives that build awareness of library resources and services. Actively cultivating relationships with faculty, staff, and students in assigned academic areas is required. The primary office will be at Gulf Coast Library in Long Beach, MS. Some travel between the Long Beach and Hattiesburg campuses is required.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree in library and/or information science from an American Library Association accredited program, or from an equivalent program accredited or recognized by the appropriate national body of another country, OR equivalent advanced degree and experience. Demonstrated experience using online databases and other types of research resources.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
Preferred Qualifications
Additional advanced degree in a relevant academic discipline.
Demonstrated interest in business-related librarianship.
Demonstrated experience or interest in developing outreach programs that engage students and faculty with library resources.
Demonstrated knowledge of instructional design or instruction assessment.
Demonstrated knowledge of current business research, trends, and journals.
