Role Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated Assistant to a Construction Lawyer with an engineering background to support construction claims and contract matters for large-scale projects in the UAE and Saudi Arabia. This role is ideal for candidates aiming to build a long-term career at the intersection of engineering, construction law, and dispute resolution.
The successful candidate will assist in claim preparation, technical and contractual analysis, and drafting of professional claim submissions and legal support documents.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Construction Lawyer in drafting and reviewing construction claims, claim submissions, and claim reports.
- Support Extension of Time (EOT), delay, disruption, prolongation, and cost-related claims.
- Collect, analyze, and organize project documentation including correspondence, site records, schedules, and progress reports.
- Assist in contract review and interpretation (FIDIC / NEC / standard construction contracts) to identify entitlement and compliance requirements.
- Prepare technical narratives, claim exhibits, timelines, and supporting schedules.
- Support negotiations, meetings, and dispute resolution processes including adjudication and arbitration preparation.
- Coordinate with project teams, engineers, and commercial staff to obtain claim data and clarifications.
- Maintain claim registers, document control, confidentiality, and strict deadline compliance.
- Conduct legal and technical research under supervision and prepare summaries or briefing notes.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Strong English communication skills, both written and spoken, with clear and professional pronunciation.
- Experience or solid understanding of construction claims and contracts, particularly in the UAE and Saudi Arabia.
- Knowledge of claim principles including EOT, delay analysis, and cost/quantum assessment is an advantage.
- Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); knowledge of Primavera P6 or MS Project.
- Strong analytical ability, attention to detail, and structured thinking.
- High sense of responsibility, confidentiality, and professional ethics.
- Willingness to learn and grow in a legally driven construction environment.
Preferred Experience Levels
Junior / Entry-Level (1–2 years)
- Fresh graduates or early-career professionals with internships or academic exposure to construction contracts and claims.
Mid-Level (3–5 years)
- Practical experience supporting construction claims, contract administration, or dispute-related documentation in the Middle East.
