The Assistant Teacher supports the classroom team in delivering high-quality, developmentally appropriate, and Christ-centered care and instruction for children. Working under the direction of the Academy Leadership and with the support of Lead Teachers, the Assistant Teacher helps maintain a nurturing, safe, and engaging environment that reflects Lionheart’s mission, values, and commitment to children. This role is ideal for team members who have a heart to serve, a desire to grow professionally, and a passion for early childhood education and ministry.
Classroom Support & Instruction

Model Christ-centered values through interactions, attitude, and daily practices.

Support the Lead Teacher in implementing age-appropriate spiritual, social, emotional, and academic activities.

Assist with setup, supervision, and facilitation of classroom learning centers, routines, and experiences.

Maintain a safe, clean, organized, and developmentally appropriate environment following all licensing, state quality standards, and CACFP requirements.

Provide consistent supervision, engagement, and care for children.

Support the execution of daily schedules, transitions, and classroom management strategies.

Track attendance and assist with documentation of care routines and developmental notes as directed.
Team Collaboration

Partner closely with the Lead Teacher to ensure smooth daily operations and a joyful, unified classroom culture.

Communicate proactively with the other staff regarding classroom needs, child updates, and support required.

Demonstrate flexibility in assisting other classrooms or academy-wide needs when requested.

Participate in staff meetings, required trainings, and academy events.
Family Engagement

Greet families warmly and maintain positive, Christ-centered relationships.

Provide basic daily communication as requested by the Lead Teacher or Academy Leadership.

Direct family concerns to the Lead Teacher or Academy Leadership promptly and professionally.
Academy and Operational Support

Assist with classroom housekeeping tasks such as cleaning, laundry, sanitizing toys, and restocking supplies.

Support academy initiatives, spiritual practices, and special events.

Uphold Lionheart’s policies, mission, and safety standards at all times.

At least 18 years of age; high school diploma or GED required.

Meets all state minimum standards and qualifications for an Early Childhood Assistant Teacher.

Previous experience in a licensed child care facility is preferred but not required.
