Assistant - Transport Modeler

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated, passionate, technical candidate with a passion for delivering high quality transport modelling. A team player with a willingness to both learn and to mentor and develop others.

• The candidate will work with experienced strategic and micro- simulation modelers who are at the cutting edge of modelling software application. The successful candidate would be expected to manage small to medium sized projects and development / training of staff to grow the capability.
• The role presents an excellent opportunity to progress your career and work within a successful team whilst at the same time growing the transport modelling capability in the offices to support the lead Development discipline. There may also be the opportunity to travel to our offices to work face to face with the project teams as required.
• You will have knowledge of preliminary highway design, junction design and analysis, traffic software including (TRICS, ARCADY, PICADY, LINSIG, TRANSYT and micro-simulation (VISSIM, Paramics) as well a good understanding of fundamental modelling techniques, traffic management techniques and Transport, Highways and Local Authority design and modelling guidance so as to enable you work effectively as part of the team.
• You will also be able to be a proficient user of AutoCAD for the production of preliminary junction design drawings and for the production of figures to be included in reports and planning applications. Having a working knowledge of Auto Track would also be an advantage.

Mandatory Skills

• Typically, 1 to 3 years of experience.
• Experienced in operational and / or strategic modelling (AIMSUN, VISSIM, EMME, CUBE, TransCAD, VISUM) with some competence in Python scripting.
• Knowledge of GIS and data visualization tools (PowerBI, Tableau) would be considered a bonus.
• Strategic modelling expertise would be considered a bonus.
• Passionate about building the capability of others via monitoring/coaching and on the job learning opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree (Mathematics / Data science / Civil Engineering) or Equivalent.
• Masters in Transportation engineering/Transport planning.
