Assistant Transportation Planner

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Assistant Transportation Planner to support nationwide moving and relocation operations. This role plays a critical part in coordinating and optimizing shipments for Over-the-Road (OTR) CDL drivers handling household goods and commercial moves.

Working closely with Dispatch, Carrier Planning, drivers, and approved carrier partners, the Assistant Planner ensures efficient routing, regulatory compliance, and a high level of service execution. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to grow within transportation planning and logistics operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning and coordinating nationwide household goods and commercial moves.
  • Support the management of complex schedules, including multi-stop, time-sensitive, and long-haul relocations.
  • Help optimize routing and driver utilization based on availability, Hours of Service (HOS), equipment type, and move requirements.
  • Collaborate with Dispatch to ensure drivers receive accurate load details, routing instructions, schedules, and special handling requirements.
  • Partner with the Carrier Planning team to align capacity (company drivers and carriers) with shipment demand.
  • Maintain visibility of truck availability, driver status, and upcoming loads.
  • Support compliance with FMCSA regulations, including Hours of Service (HOS).
  • Assist with operational problem-solving and day-to-day logistics support.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1+ years of experience in transportation planning, dispatch, or logistics.
  • Experience working with nationwide OTR CDL drivers.
  • Household goods or moving industry experience strongly preferred but not required.
  • Experience coordinating with partners or 3rd party providers, preferred but not required.
  • Familiarity with Continental United States Geography / Map.
  • Working knowledge of FMCSA regulations and Hours of Service (HOS).

Pay: $17.00 - $18.50 per hour
