Assistant Video Editor (Post-Production)

Our Entertainment client is seeking an  Assistant Video Editor (Post-Production) to join their team for the next 9 months, 40 hours/week. This role is hybrid onsite 3 days a week in San Francisco, CA.  

Role Summary
The Assistant Video Editor (Post-Production) provides essential editorial support and collaborates closely with the creative content production and editorial teams. This role is responsible for managing media, maintaining organized editorial workflows, preparing materials for editing and finishing, and contributing to the overall post production pipeline. The ideal candidate is detail oriented, proactive, and skilled in Avid-based workflows.

Top Must Have Skills

Minimum 5 years experience in video production and editorial
Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills
Substantive knowledge of Avid and post production software, file types, frame rates, and codecs
Experience with project setup, media management, pulling selects, exports, mix prep, color prep, conform prep, and timeline cleanup
Ability to troubleshoot technical issues independently
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities

Additional Qualifications

Understanding of post production pipeline and offline to online/conform workflows preferred
Experience with Resolve, color correction, and graphics is a plus
Knowledge of Star Wars preferred
Able to make sound decisions with limited instruction
Capable of handling multiple demands with diplomacy and professionalism
Flexible, receptive, and open to change
Self-directed, detail oriented, and solutions focused
Eager to grow and excited by new challenges
Degree or equivalent work experience

Responsibilities

Ingest, transcode, log, and label incoming media (video, images, audio, graphics) into Avid / Avid MediaCentral Production Management following established naming and organizational protocols
Sync audio and video
Maintain Avid project and sequence organization
Research, collect, log, and digitize assets for editorial use
Pull and edit rough assemblies of sound bites and B-roll selects
Export projects in all required formats
Gather sources for finishing and uprez Avid timelines
Create audio splits, textless passes, and other alternate versions including those needed for localization
Perform QC on final exports
Provide logging and transcription support as needed, including syncing scripts in Avid
Archive projects as required

In this position, you may have access to client or customer systems, confidential and/or proprietary information or data. This position is onsite and requires you to work closely with other individuals in a collaborative team environment.
