Associate / Analyst, Middle Office

The Associate / Analyst, Middle Office reports directly to the Manager, Middle Office and plays an instrumental role in supporting the marketing and trading operations of Cheniere Energy. This position is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, efficiency and compliance of daily reporting and analysis essential to Cheniere’s overall success.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Report Generation: Assist in the preparation of daily trading desk profit & loss, position and valuation reporting with comprehensive analysis and explanations surrounding profit & loss changes to management and key stakeholders.
  • Trade Support: Assist front office and portfolio managers by promptly addressing trade-related inquiries and issues.
  • Trade Confirmation and Settlement: Assist in the execution and reconciliation of trade confirmations, ensuring trade settlements are timely and accurate.
  • Data Validation: Assist in monitoring and validating trade data, positions and valuations to ensure trade accuracy in compliance with underlying documentation.
  • Collaboration: Work in partnership with front office, risk management and back-office operations to promote more improved and efficient practices and procedures.
  • Reconciliation: Interface with Back Office to support month-end reconciliation, invoicing and accounting.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Assist in the ensuring that policies and procedures are current with relevant regulatory requirements and compliance standards.
  • Technology Utilization: Liaise with IT for the continuous improvement of Cheniere’s financial software and systems to streamline middle office operations.
  • Documentation: Assist in maintaining accurate record keeping and documentation of trading activities, positions and other middle office activities.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Ideal candidate possesses knowledge of Middle Office Trade Support operations, practices, and procedures. Industry experience related to natural gas trading activities: hedging, commodity buy/sell, transportation/storage, contracts/confirmations and regulatory compliance is required for success in this role.

  • Understanding of business processes and data management.
  • Proficiency of Microsoft Office applications; a high degree of skill in Excel, Excel Macros and VBA is desirable with heavy interaction with people of different professional backgrounds.
  • Understanding of natural gas markets, including transportation, storage, financial hedging activities.
  • Proficiency in OpenLink Endur.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Education and Certifications: Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.

Experience:
• Associate: 0-2 years of experience in the energy industry. Middle Office/Trade Support experience within the natural gas trading/marketing industry is preferred.
• Analyst: 2+ years of experience in the energy industry. Middle Office/Trade Support experience within the natural gas trading/marketing industry is preferred.

WORK CONDITIONS
  • Job is performed in a typical office environment, but is subject to time pressures and constraints, and is often dependent on input from others.
  • Occasionally, work may be performed from home, after normal work hours or on weekends.
  • Periodic travel as business requires.
