Associate Attorney - Estate Planning/Probate

Andros, Floyd & Miller, P.C., established in 1981, is located in Hartford, Connecticut. The firm’s practice is focused on:

  •  Estate planning for high-net-worth individuals and owners of closely-held businesses
  •  Tax planning for such individuals
  •  Business succession planning for closely-held businesses

  • Probate and related death administration


AFM has a sophisticated estate planning, probate and business planning practice that utilizes an integrated approach to planning for the owners of closely held businesses, coordinating the needs of the individual, family, and business enterprises. The atmosphere is collaborative and collegial.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • You will assist clients in making some of the most important and sensitive decisions facing families, both with regard to personal family matters, and the passing of family wealth.
  •  You will use your ability to communicate, and in particular your writing skills, and your attention to detail, to help develop customized planning documents, memos, and flow charts that address planning needs.
  •  Because of our sophisticated estate and tax planning practice you will have the opportunity to learn planning techniques, and develop the skill needed to integrate these techniques into estate plans, sometimes creating unique and creative solutions to a client’s needs.


EDUCATION & WORK EXPERIENCE: 

  • Law Degree and admission to the Connecticut Bar, or admission to another state bar and able to obtain Connecticut bar admission through waiver.
  • 2-5 years experience as an estate planner.
  • L.L.M. in tax or estate planning is a plus.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES: 

  • Very strong writing skills is a requirement.
  • Strong organizational and analytic skills.
  • Knowledge of, or strong desire to learn, sophisticated estate and gift tax concepts.
  • Strong verbal communication skills, and a desire to meet with clients.
  • Desire to solve problems raised by client’s circumstances and goals.
