If you enjoy reading and analyzing complex information, notice the difference between a straight quote and a curly quote, or are the kind of person that always reads the boilerplate, then this is the job for you.

We hire and evaluate from our Core Values - does this describe you:

  • Quality is Job #1: I always strive for the best result through superior effort. I embrace the “measure twice, cut once” principle.
  • I Own It: I act with integrity. I reject a “that’s not my job” mentality. I pitch in, help out, and solve problems collaboratively. I do whatever it takes to get the job done.
  • Mistakes to Mastery: I know mistakes happen. When they do, I acknowledge and learn from them. I pursue growth and learning daily.
  • Positive and Professional: I cannot always control what happens. I can and will control how I respond. I always strive to have a positive mindset.
  • 1% Rule: I am always looking for ways for the firm to improve. I embrace change.
  • Excellent Client Experience: At the conclusion of the engagement, the client will return to us for future legal assistance and confidently refer their colleagues.

*Responsibilities*:

  • Provide excellent client service, including meeting deadlines.
  • Review, revise, draft, and negotiate a variety of contracts, including in the areas of healthcare, information technology, and data privacy and security.
  • Draft contract provisions to the specific transaction and client’s unique needs.
  • Monitor developments in federal and state healthcare (Anti-Kickback Statute, Stark, physician fee splitting) and privacy and security laws (HIPAA, NIST, state data breach notification laws) and provide legal advice to clients in a way that will allow them to operationalize the obligations.
  • Review and respond to correspondence from clients, opposing counsel, and regulators in a professional manner and using all common business channels (e.g., email, telephone, meetings, video calls, screen sharing, and the like).
  • Provide input on creating and improving the Firm’s systems, processes, and procedures to best serve the Firm’s clients.
  • Maintain, update, and manage the client file, transaction status, tasks, and your time using the Firm’s practice and document management systems.
  • Support the Firm's marketing efforts.

- Be admitted to the Bar in state where you are physically present and have 3+ years of relevant legal experience
- Strong academic background with excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Be a self-directed learner (i.e., creating your own checklists, using Firm provided resources for CLEs, learning from documents drafted and revised by others, and the like)
- Be comfortable working in a small law firm environment
- Strong technology skills and ability and desire to learn new software systems quickly
- Possess excellent legal research and analysis skills, with high attention to detail and accuracy
- Possess excellent organizational and planning skills, with the ability and capacity to simultaneously handle a variety of complex matters under strict deadlines and pressure

Application Question(s):

  • (1) This position requires that you be admitted to the Bar in state where you are physically present. If you are not yet admitted, please explain your circumstance and time frame for taking the Bar Exam and gaining full admission to the Bar in the state where you are physically present.
  • (2) Our law firm only succeeds if you succeed. In order for us to understand your skill levels and personality we ask all candidates to take a skills and personality assessment requiring about 30 minutes of your time. Are you willing to take this initial assessment?
  • (3) The listed salary is based on (1) three years of relevant legal experience in handling healthcare, information technology, and data privacy and security transactions and regulatory matters, and (2) your ability to immediately produce billable work in these practice areas. We are open to considering candidates with less experience in these practice areas, however, being that you may not be able to produce billable work immediately, what would be an acceptable salary until you can meet required levels?

In order to bill 35 hours, you may have to spend 50 hours or more in the office, much like any other hourly job with unpaid breaks. Are you prepared to spend 50 hours in the office or would you rather bill/earn less and only spend 40 hours per week in the office? Why?
  • (6) Please describe your experience in handling healthcare, information technology, and data privacy and security transactions and regulatory matters.
  • (7) Why do you think you are the right fit for this position? What skills or experiences do you have that other candidates may not?

  • (9) What outstanding accomplishment(s) from your current/previous work or activities are you most proud of?
  • (10) How would you like your boss or employer to show that you are appreciated? What makes you feel truly valued?
