Moreover, the Blended and Digital Learning team within QTL_net is implementing a Digital Learning Strategy aimed at enhancing teaching and learning through the integration of technology, faculty/staff capacity-building, and evidence-informed innovation.

Aga Khan University invites applications for the position of Associate, Digital Learning at the Network of Quality, Teaching and Learning (QTL_net).

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Director, Blended and Digital Learning, you will play a key role in supporting faculty members in incorporating technology in teaching/learning, coordinating and co-facilitating PD activities, coordinating, and maintaining digital resources, or assisting in curriculum or instructional design.

  • co-facilitate, and co-evaluate professional development workshops, seminars, and other programmes and activities related to blended and digital learning
  • support faculty members in the adoption/integration of blended and digital learning approaches and pedagogies through individual and group consultations
  • design, develop VLE (Moodle) course sites; develop script and/or storyboards; and integration of a variety of tools as necessary
  • select/ recommend appropriate software and manage their access for the BDL team
  • providing student learning support for technology integration
  • utilize and evaluate new/ current technologies to further blended and digital learning initiatives and improve teaching and students’ engagement
  • support Scholarship of Teaching and Learning activities related to blended, digital and online teaching (e.g., literature reviews, data collection, writing analytical reports)
  • collaborate with QTL_net teams and academic support services (e.g., student affairs, library, AV, Digital scholarship center, IT) for the adoption of technology in education
  • implement monitoring and evaluation tools for continuous improvement of the blended and digital learning activities
  • write annual reports on faculty development activities conducted throughout the year
  • maintain BDL activity schedules and database on faculty development activities
  • participate in at least three PD activities a year and show evidence of incorporating lessons in practice
  • mentor and supervise interns
  • attend QTL_net meetings and support the Director in administrative, logistical and co-ordination related tasks as and when required

Requirements:

You should have:

  • Bachelor’s degree holder in educational technology/technology-mediated learning/instructional design or education (with specialization in ICT, E-learning) or computer science or equivalent experience
  • minimum 2 years' experience of digital teaching and learning, or designing and implementing interactive experiences for onsite, blended, and online learning environments and facilitating professional development programmes
  • knowledge of educational technology trends
  • familiarity with faculty development approaches
  • ability to apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills in unique teaching and learning situations
  • skills to use learning management systems (e.g., Moodle), image manipulation tools (e.g., Photoshop), web authoring (e.g., HTML, CSS), eLearning authoring (e.g., Articulate Storyline), online conferencing software (e.g., Zoom, MS Teams), sound editors/podcasting tools, visual design (e.g., Canva, illustrator)
  • good interpersonal, negotiation and presentation skills
  • strong and comprehensive writing skills in English
  • ability to deal with multiple constituencies in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment (significant planning and design work with the faculty occurs by phone, email, and online, due to the distributed nature of the university)
  • planning and organizing schedules and activity calendars
  • good time management skills
  • proven ability to adapt and learn new procedures, pedagogies, and technologies
  • must be self-motivated, organized, and detail-oriented
  • strong willingness to continue upgrading knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to keep abreast of regulation and policy changes
  • familiarity with AKU or AKDN and the contexts served
