Lilly is entering an exciting period of growth, and we are committed to delivering innovative medicines to patients around the world. LRL has increasing needs for in-house manufacture of material for clinical supplies and will therefore construct a new campus to manufacture Clinical Trial (CT) Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) to meet needs for an expanding portfolio (more and new areas), to accelerate development timelines, and to enhance supply chain robustness.

The brand-new facility also known as Lilly Medicine Foundry (LMF) will utilize the latest technology to augment the current clinical supply chain for small molecules (SM), oligonucleotides, peptides, and Antibody Drug Conjugates (ADCs), monoclonal antibodies and bioconjugates, and add new capabilities including mRNA.

New site will be built using the latest high-tech equipment, advanced highly integrated and automated manufacturing systems, and have a focus on minimizing the impact to our environment.

Position Description:

You will be part of LRL Tech@Lilly an organization that drives innovation through utilization of technology.

This Associate Director position is responsible for engaging Lilly Medicine Foundry business and technical leaders, scientists, external suppliers, and strategic partners to manage the portfolio of applications and development roadmaps.

Key responsibilities include recruiting, leading and developing a group of dedicated technology professionals and delivering a range of vendor provided or custom solutions and critical platforms; aligning the team to business goals; driving agile transformation; managing solution prioritization, financial management and governance; and advancing information architecture practices.

This position will report to Senior Director Medicine Foundry Tech@Lilly team and will be based out of Indianapolis initially and then Lebanon Indiana.

Key Objectives:

  • Manage technical team (develops staffing strategy, performance management, development, recruiting and hiring) and budgets to meet those objectives.
  • Communicate direction by prioritizing work within portfolio of projects and services with key focus on LIMS implementation, Digital Forms and lab system integrations
  • Direct release schedule for assets, based on business needs and available capacity.
  • Embrace emerging digital technologies and identify opportunities for extending among the team.
  • Adopt and drive best project and program management practices in the pursuit of maximized business value.
  • Understand, anticipate, elicit and influence customer demand for information services.
  • Leverage external resources to increase digital and competitive awareness.
  • Maintain strong relationships with key suppliers in delivery of solutions.
  • Outline and approve Statements of Work, appropriately engaging Procurement, and other Tech@Lilly organizations.
  • Measure and maximize performance of key suppliers to stated SoWs and verify all contractual obligations are met.

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree (Science or Engineering)
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in Lab Systems or Information Management Systems.

Additional Preferences:

  • Master’s degree in business administration
  • Business Relationship Management skills to enable deep business integration and strategy development.
  • Demonstrated delivery of sustainable capabilities and services within the budget, timeline, and scope constraints.
  • Experience in providing technical coaching and feedback to technology professionals.
  • Experience in developing budgets, forecasts, and plans.
  • Experience in vendor management to provide solutions and services.
  • Experience with Pharmaceutical Manufacturing and GxP practices
  • Experience managing large capital programs/projects in the pharmaceutical business. Previous experience in the startup of a new facility or clinical development manufacturing site.
  • Proven leadership experience in managing large cross-functional teams.
  • Active participation in industry forums and standards organizations. Knowledge of CMC Labs, eLNs, LIMS, Manufacturing pharma processes and technology platforms

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is

$132,000 - $193,600

Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
