Associate Director Governance and Standards

Oversee the implementation and continuous improvement of enterprise project governance, delivery standards and execution methodologies to ensure consistent, compliant, high-quality project delivery across the organisation. Provide lifecycle controls, training, assurance reporting and decision-quality insights to executive committees, investment/ planning boards and portfolio leads.

• Governance & standards: Define, implement and maintain enterprise-wide governance frameworks, delivery standards, templates and execution methodologies (waterfall, agile, hybrid) to ensure compliance, repeatable quality and measurable outcomes across all projects.
• Lifecycle management: Design and control project lifecycle stages and gates (initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, closure), including entry/exit criteria, artefacts, risk controls and regulatory-aligned checks.
• Delivery oversight & assurance: Monitor project adherence to standards through assurance reviews, stage-gate assessments, audits and metrics. Escalate persistent issues and recommend corrective actions to Portfolio Leads, Investment Committees and Planning Boards.
• Reporting & insights: Produce and present executive-level dashboards and deep-dive reports on delivery health, risks, compliance and control metrics to executive committees and boards.
• Training & capability building: Partner with Portfolio Leads and Project Managers to embed standard practices via training, playbooks, coaching, tool guidance and communities of practice. Maintain a curriculum of role-based learning and certification where applicable.
• Continuous improvement: Lead post-implementation reviews, capture lessons learned, refine standards and drive automation/ tooling improvements to increase delivery efficiency and control.
• Stakeholder management: Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders to align standards with regulatory requirements, investment priorities and operational constraints.
• Compliance & regulatory alignment: Ensure delivery controls meet applicable regulatory, security and audit requirements; coordinate with Risk and Compliance for external/regulatory audits.
• Serve as the custodian of delivery data integrity, ensuring accurate and timely updates from all project teams.
• Collaborate with Portfolio Leads and PMs to train and embed standard practices across the delivery organization.
• Provide inputs to executive steering committees and transformation boards on delivery assurance and control metrics.
