Primary Purpose of Position
The Associate Director for Social Media Strategy reports to the Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing and Fan Engagement and is responsible for developing, overseeing, and maintaining all social media channels for Charlotte’s 19 Division I athletics teams and the Charlotte 49ers’ main social media channels.
Minimum Education/Experience
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of education and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Essential Job Duties
This position will provide an integrated strategy to advance Charlotte’s Athletics brand through social media. Assists in the creation, implementation, and monitoring of strategic marketing campaigns via social media to generate greater awareness of the Athletics brand. Work closely with the Assistant Director of Marketing, Director of Creative Video, and Creative Services Director to produce content aimed at enhancing recruiting, fan engagement, and elevating the Niner brand.
Other Work Responsibilities
- Performs other related duties as assigned or as directed by the Associate Athletic Director of Strategic Communications.
- Adheres to NCAA compliance regulations, Conference Affiliation, and University.
Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
- Knowledge and experience with social media platforms and content creation.
- Experience working in professional or university-level social media campaigns or sports programs
- Computer experience, especially with desktop publishing (Adobe Creative Suite)
- Must be able to work evenings and weekends
