Associate
Engineer (Metallurgy)
to join our rapidly expanding team.
As a member of the operations team, the Engineer position performs a variety of routine and non-routine testing assignments within the department assigned and insures timely and accurate test results under minimal direct supervision. The engineer position must be proficient in a number of core business and technical skills including but not limited to compliance to established safety rules, code of conduct, and company policies and procedures.
Responsibilities:

Perform coatings testing related to qualification tests on heat shrink sleeves, product qualification tests on elastomers and polymers based on international standards

Perform sour and non-sour corrosion testing on various ferrous and non-ferrous alloys as applicable
-
Perform metallurgical examination (like macro examination, microstructure examination, grain size, inclusion count, banding index, phase balance, nodularity)

Ability to support in performing mechanical testing with a minimum hands-on experience in tensile testing, bend testing, Charpy impact testing, hardness testing

Provide technical and engineering inputs and support the development of new technologies within the laboratory

Be responsible in ensuring accurate and timely release of test data to customers for sign-off by technical leads and maintain records of quality control data as required

Be expected to obtain valuable inputs and ownership in non-routine situation testing

Have the ability to oversee standard and/or routine technical problem-solving activities
-
Interact with customers and witness representatives on the test procedures, technical issues and questions
-
Provide Input and support on business development opportunities with new or existing customers

Will be required to work in varied shifts as required and also work at site locations for testing as deemed necessary by Company
Skills / Qualifications:
-
Working knowledge of laboratory safety and work culture in an ISO 17025 laboratory and adept in handling chemicals and reagents

Possess a good level of expertise related to scope, core theories, concepts, terminologies and boundaries of chosen engineering discipline

Possess a minimum of an engineering degree preferably in Metallurgy or Mechanical disciplines

Have a minimum 2 years of relevant hands-on laboratory testing experience
-
Possesses a demonstrated ability to apply academic knowledge within the context of Element’s business
-
Operational knowledge of LIMS and similar laboratory management systems is a definite advantage
-
Experience in performing tests (PMI, hardness, ferrite, replica and similar) at site would be useful
-
In-depth understanding of testing concepts and hands on-experience in handling test equipment related to the required responsibilities to be undertaken for this position

Can analyse and compile testing data from the tests performed
-
Possess strong computer skills along with good oral and written communication skills in English
