Associate Financial Representative

Job Description

An established Northwestern Mutual Financial Advisor is looking for a highly organized, motivated, and relationship-driven Associate Financial Representative (AFR) to support daily operations and client service. This role is ideal for an entry-level candidate or someone with 1–2 years of experience in finance, administrative support, or client service that thrives in a structured, fast-moving environment, enjoys building efficient systems, and values playing a key support role in financial planning and client relationships. On-site is preferred, with potential for partial remote flexibility as proficiency grows.

Responsibilities:

Client & Advisor Support (60%)

  • Conduct high volume outbound calls to prospective clients
  • Reconnect with existing clients to schedule follow up appointments
  • Prepare client meeting materials, summaries, and reports
  • Assist with gathering and organizing client data for appointments

Operational & Planning Coordination (30%)

  • Work directly with internal financial planning teams to support plan updates, case prep, and data organization
  • Maintain CRM accuracy, service requests, and compliance documentation
  • Track follow-ups, pipeline movement, deadlines, and outstanding requirements
  • Help build structure and streamline office processes

New Business & Underwriting (10%)

  • Submit new business applications (life, disability, and planning cases)
  • Communicate with underwriting, monitor case progress, and manage requirements
  • Document case notes, updates, and client interactions in real time

What We’re Looking For:

  • Prior administrative, operations, or client-service experience (financial services a plus)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly organized with excellent attention to detail
  • Proactive mindset with the ability to anticipate needs and manage multiple priorities
  • Tech-savvy: familiar with CRM systems, Microsoft Office, and scheduling tools
  • Athletic backgrounds a plus (discipline, competitiveness, strong work ethic)

Licensing

  • NYS Life & Health license preferred--Must obtain within 6 months of hire if not currently licensed (support is provided)
  • We fully sponsor all licensing exams, including the New York State Life, Accident & Health (LAH), SIE, Series 6/7, and Series 63

Compensation

  • $50,000–$60,000 salary, depending on experience

Job Type: Full-time

Work Location: In-person (financial district, 10004)

Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
