This is a grant-funded contractual position.

Job Role / Responsibilities:

You will be responsible to:

• approve and check local and foreign payments as per the approved authority matrix, ensuring accurate recording, tax compliance and adherence to AKU policies
• supervise staff who process payments, ensuring all payments are made on time and institutional commitments are fulfilled
• liaise with various departments on day-to-day matters, including payments, contracts and related activities
• prepare and review monthly schedules and reports for assets, liabilities and projects as assigned, and follow up with relevant stakeholders for recovery or adjustments of funds/status
• take an active part in monthly, quarterly and annual general ledger closing activities, including internal and external audits
• prepare monthly schedules, reports and responses to budget variance reports
• perform quarterly and annual closing activities and prepare variance analysis
• undertake annual audit tasks and activities as assigned
• prepare annual withholding tax reconciliation.

Eligibility Criteria / Requirements:

You should have:

• ICMA finalist, ACCA finalist, BCom, BBA in Finance or equivalent qualification with relevant work experience
• minimum two years’ experience in finance
• good knowledge of accounting principles
• strong analytical skills
• good interpersonal and communication skills
• proficiency in computer applications, especially MS Office
