Associate General Counsel | Equipment Finance

Associate General Counsel | Equipment Finance

Altius Search Group is conducting a search on behalf of a client for an Associate General Counsel to support and strengthen its legal team. Our client is a growing equipment finance organization seeking an Associate General Counsel to join its legal team. This position will report directly to the General Counsel and serve as a key legal partner to the business. The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in commercial and transactional law, along with the ability to provide practical legal guidance in a fast-paced financial services environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney who enjoys working closely with internal stakeholders, balancing legal risk with business objectives, and supporting a broad range of matters related to contracts, compliance, lease transactions, and portfolio issues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements and transactional documents
  • Provide day-to-day legal support to business teams on contract, operational, and regulatory matters
  • Assist with lease enforcement matters, including workouts, recoveries, bankruptcy-related issues, and other collection matters
  • Advise internal partners on legal and compliance issues involving equipment finance transactions
  • Support legal matters related to UCC, titling, documentation, and secured transactions
  • Partner with internal departments, including sales, credit, collections, operations, compliance, and human resources
  • Help identify legal risks and provide practical, business-oriented solutions
  • Contribute to the continued development of legal processes, policies, and best practices across the organization

Qualifications

  • J.D. from an accredited law school
  • Active license to practice law
  • 2 to 4 years of relevant law firm or in-house experience in commercial, corporate, or transactional law
  • Strong contract drafting, review, and negotiation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a collaborative business environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and a solutions-oriented mindset
  • Experience advising on collections, lease enforcement, compliance, or employment-related matters is a plus
  • Familiarity with UCC, titling, secured transactions, or equipment finance is strongly preferred

What We’re Looking For

  • A quick learner who is comfortable handling a variety of legal issues
  • A professional who can provide thoughtful, practical counsel rather than purely academic legal analysis
  • Someone who builds strong working relationships and communicates effectively with both legal and non-legal stakeholders
  • An attorney who thrives in a team-oriented environment and is willing to take a hands-on approach

Compensation and Benefits
The company offers a competitive base salary and a comprehensive benefits package, which may include medical, dental, vision, retirement benefits, paid time off, and paid holidays.

Work Arrangement
Candidates who are able to work onsite are preferred, though remote consideration may be available for especially qualified individuals.
