Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and creative GSP Engineering Buyer_Procurement
The Opportunity:
- GSP Engineering Buyer Role and Responsibilities Scope –
1. Understand sourcing requirements and quotes materials; procures materials, components, equipment, and
services at the lowest cost consistent with consideration of quality, reliability of source and urgency of need.
2. Expedites and ensures the timely receipt of materials.
3. Works with Engineering Material Project Managers, Procurement Managers and CBM to recommend new
suppliers. Identify make vs. buy opportunities and drive alignment/decision with key stakeholders
4. Issues RFQs, analyzes proposals, negotiates prices and delivery, issues and/or adjusts purchase orders in a timely
manner.
5. Follows-up on orders, verifies delivery, approves payment, and maintains necessary records.
6. Negotiates vendor contracts, as appropriate. Follows standard purchasing business processes.
7. Coordinates/drives purchasing activities with manufacturing and engineering departments to maintain supply at
planned levels. Leads problem resolution for material related accounting and receiving issues.
8. Develops and recommend methods of business simplification for the procurement function.
9. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assist in development of process and system documents for the
purchasing function.
10. Works with engineering to identify preliminary critical parts, long-lead parts and inspection requirements.
Identifies issues and escalates as necessary to CBM and Engineering. Reviews and ensures actions per disposition of
decisions
11. Maintains supply planning levels per plan and performs risk analysis. Minimizes risk to supply chain. Provides
input to management regarding action plans to address long term issues.
12. Pulls and reads part specifications and engineering drawings. Utilizes knowledge of material types to
communicate with engineers and suppliers.
13. Provides feedback to engineering for cost reduction efforts.
14. Present progress reports . Assist in establishing leading KPI’s to support our development at various stages of
organizational maturity. Analyze process performance based on KPIs to drive KPI improvement
Skills Required:
1. Should have prior sourcing, negotiation, dual sourcing, and supplier management experience.
2. Able to drive a project and deliver on time.
3. Proficient with MS Office. Advanced Excel is a must.
4. Knowledge of procure to pay, supplier management, contracting processes and relevant ERP systems like SAP,
Ariba, etc.
5. Knowledge of manufacturing methods & commodities as related to engineering product and cost structure.
6. Ability to read and interpret BOM’s. Pay attention to detail
7. Must be self-starter and be able to operate independent of day-to-day supervision.
8. Excellent people and presentation skills.
9. Be able to navigate a complex global business environment from a remote work setting (support US day shifts)
Desired Skills:
1. Costing experience: needs to understand various cost models (E.g., Outsourced
assembly/ module), mark-up, margins etc.
2. Have worked with cross functional team on New product / Design change
projects.
3. Able to interpret drawings. Using 3D modelling and PLM software.
4. Have worked with global suppliers
5. Good Analytical skills
Qualifications
Experience in Engineering (Preferably Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, or Industrial) with minimum of 5 years into
sourcing, program management and supplier management.
