Position

We’re looking for an Intellectual Property Associate with 1–5 years of legal experience to join our growing team. This role suits someone who enjoys substantive trademark work including litigation, direct client interaction, and a supportive environment that encourages professional growth alongside work-life balance.

This is a fully remote position, but candidates must reside in Southern California in order to attend court hearings in the Southern District of California and Central District of California District Courts.

We are not looking to hire 2025 graduates at this time.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct trademark clearance searches and provide risk assessments
• Prepare and file U.S. trademark applications and respond to office actions
• Manage domestic and international trademark portfolios
• Represent clients in Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (“TTAB”) proceedings, including Opposition and Cancellation proceedings
• Represent clients in state and federal court
• Draft cease and desist letters and negotiate trademark-related settlements
• Advise clients on brand protection strategies and enforcement
• Work collaboratively within a focused, efficient, and experienced team

T-Rex Law has a billable hours requirement of 1,800 billable hours/year

What We're Looking For

• J.D. from an accredited law school
• Licensed and in good standing with the California State Bar
• Must live in Southern California with reasonable access to Southern District of California and Central District of California District Courts
• 1–5 years of post-Bar experience, ideally in a fast-paced or high-volume practice
• Experience with the TTAB and federal court litigation
• Ability and willingness to litigate and appear at hearings in California District Courts
• Excellent legal writing, communication, and organizational skills
• Ability to manage numerous matters with attention to detail and sound judgment
• A proactive, responsive, and professional approach to client service
• Comfortable working independently in a remote setting
• Ability to prosecute patents welcome, but not required

Compensation

We offer a compensation structure designed to reward both performance and contributions to the firm’s growth. This includes a base salary, bonus structure, and stipends.

• $68,640-$127,480 DOE
• Base salary of $68,640 plus yearly increase of $1000/year based on years of attorney experience ($73,640 for 5 years as an attorney)
• Plus 10% of all work billed and received (uncapped)
• Plus 10% of all work referred to the firm, regardless of who does the work (uncapped)

Stipends:

• Fitness Stipend ($300/year)
• Entertainment Stipend ($300/year)
