ASSOCIATE ASSISTANT PROSECUTING ATTORNEY
Starting Pay: $42.3361 Hourly ($88,059)
Step A: $44.6716 Hourly ($92,917)
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from an accredited law school -AND- a member of the State Bar of Michigan in good standing;
-AND-
One (1) of the following: Judicial clerkship experience, Internship/Externship experience, Law School Clinic Experience or Moot Court Team Experience.

JOB SUMMARY: Performs a wide variety of legal tasks in Circuit (Criminal and Family Court) and District Court with occasional Probate Court Appearances
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS:
Appears at arraignments, pretrials, probable cause conferences, preliminary examinations, preliminary hearings, review hearings, dispositional hearings and misdemeanor sentence hearings.
Represents the People in traffic enforcement matters before the District Court.
Represents the People in probation violation and show cause matters.
Conducts trials in misdemeanor, juvenile delinquency, neglect-abuse and mental commitment cases.
Assists senior APA staff in conducting felony trials or other complex litigation matters.
Interviews complainants and police officers relative to criminal cases the APA is prosecuting to prepare for court hearings.
Conducts legal research.
Attends community meetings and law enforcement agency meetings at the direction of the elected prosecutor.
LEAD ASSISTANT PROSECUTING ATTORNEY
Starting Pay: $48.4183 Hourly ($100,710)
Step A: $50.8250 Hourly ($105,716)
Step B: $53.2313 Hourly ($110,721)
Step C: $54.8279 Hourly ($114,042)
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from an accredited law school -AND- a member of the State Bar of Michigan in good standing;
-AND- either:
Three (3) years’ experience as a lawyer;
-OR-
Two (2) years’ experience as a Prosecuting attorney;
-OR-
One (1) year experience as a prosecuting attorney -AND- one (1) year combined experience as a judicial clerk and prosecution internship/externship.

SENIOR ASSISTANT PROSECUTING ATTORNEY
Starting Pay: $55.3606 Hourly ($115,150)
Step A: $57.5745 Hourly ($119,755)
Step B: $60.9236 Hourly ($126,721)
Step C: $66.0005 Hourly ($137,281)
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from an accredited law school -AND- a member of the State Bar of Michigan in good standing;
-AND-
Eight (8) years’ experience as a lawyer conducting complex litigation with at least 10 jury trials or 25 bench trials or 20 oral arguments in the appellate courts;
-OR-
Five (5) years’ experience as a prosecutor with at least 10 felony jury trials or a combination of 10 misdemeanor jury trials and 25 bench trials or 15 oral arguments in the appellate court;
-OR-
Twenty (20) years’ experience in a Prosecutor’s Office.

Essential Job Duties and Functions:
Represent the People in court proceedings, including arraignments, trials, hearings, and probation violations
Handle cases involving misdemeanors, felonies, juvenile delinquency, neglect-abuse, and mental commitments
Interview complainants and law enforcement to prepare for hearings
Conduct legal research and draft or review search and arrest warrants
Participate in complex litigation, including homicide, sexual assault, and gang-related cases
Serve as lead counsel in trials and mentor junior attorneys
Attend community and law enforcement meetings as assigned
Provide training to prosecutors and law enforcement personnel
Prepare and manage forfeiture and nuisance abatement matters
Respond to motions and represent the office in appellate courts when assigned
Serve on advisory committees as requested by the elected prosecuto
