About The Role

We are currently seeking an Associate Lecturer in Childcare to join our Health, Social Care & Childcare department at The Bedford College Group .

As an Associate Lecturer, you play an important role in the success of our students through:

  • Teaching & Curriculum Delivery – Plan, deliver, assess, and verify a range of Early Years and Primary Education programmes including T Levels, ensuring high-quality, inclusive learning experiences tailored to student needs.
  • Student Support & Progress Monitoring – Guide students to achieve their potential through effective progress tracking, timely interventions, and maintaining accurate records of performance and development.
  • Industry Engagement & Vocational Learning – Collaborate with employers to secure meaningful industry placements and integrate vocational opportunities into the curriculum to enhance real-world learning.
  • Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement – Contribute to curriculum innovation, internal quality processes, and course development, while staying current with subject knowledge and CPD requirements.
  • Professional Standards & Statutory Duties – Uphold safeguarding, EDI, and health and safety policies; participate in marketing and recruitment activities; and represent the college professionally across all responsibilities.

About You

  • Relevant Qualifications & Sector Experience – Holds Level 4+ qualifications in Early Years or Primary Education, with recent sector experience and a commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Teaching & Curriculum Skills – Demonstrates strong teaching abilities, including lesson planning, behaviour management, and progress tracking across diverse student groups and achievement levels.
  • Professional Competencies – Excellent organisational, interpersonal, and communication skills; able to meet deadlines, work independently, and contribute positively to team environments.
  • Values & Inclusivity – Aligns with college values such as Educational Excellence and Inclusivity, with proven ability to promote equality, diversity, and maintain appropriate boundaries with learners.
  • Flexibility & Representation – Willing to work across multiple sites and varied hours, professionally representing the college and supporting its reputation in all interactions.

What is an Associate?

Associates work on a short term basis as assigned. They teach or provide support services and they work with and are supported by core staff. As an Associate you will be issued with an Associate agreement, under this Agreement period you will be eligible to work on assignments offered to you. Typically an agreement runs from January to December and may be renewed thereafter.

About The Bedford College Group

The Bedford College Group was formed in 2017 following the merger of Bedford College and Tresham College and is now the largest provider of education in the South East Midlands, with over 15,000 students passing through our doors each year.
