Job Description Overview:
A Compliance Auditor in healthcare plays a critical role in ensuring that organizations meet regulatory requirements while fostering a culture of compliance and ethical behavior. Strong analytical skills, in-depth regulatory knowledge, and effective communication are essential for success in this position. The Compliance Auditor will be responsible for completing encounter audits and ensuring client understanding of regulatory and internal compliance standards. This role will involve conducting encounter audits, evaluating client processes, and implementing initiatives to mitigate errors in the provider payment process.
Qualifications for a Senior Compliance Auditor in Healthcare
● Education and Certifications:
○ Bachelor’s degree (Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting preferred), OR equivalent work experience
○ Certified Professional Medical Auditor (CPMA)
○ Certified Professional Coder (CPC)
○ Other advanced certifications are a plus but not required
● Experience and Knowledge:
○ Minimum of 7-10 years of auditing pro-fee services
○ Multi-specialty healthcare coding and auditing.
○ Strong background in AMA, OIG, CMS regulation and guidelines
○ Previous project management or supervisory skills preferred
○ Understanding of clinical operations and healthcare business models
○ RCM - Revenue Cycle Management.
○ Experience with Provider education.
Key Responsibilities:
● Conduct Audits & Compliance Consulting
○ Conduct client audit engagements or compliance officer engagements
○ Prepare detailed audit reports, provider training and presentations for clients
○ The primary responsibility of this role will be auditing pro-fee services
○ Engagement may be a solo audit or a health system with thousands of providers
● Work Environment:
○ This position may require occasional travel for in-person client visits or training/speaking sessions
○ The role can be performed in a compliant remote office setting.
