About This Role:

The Associate Manager role is a senior-level instructor role designed for our top-performing, most professional instructors. This position does not manage people but instead serves as a role model for quality and instructional excellence. The Associate Manager supports new hire training, instructor development, quality assurance, and operational flexibility, ensuring Coastline delivers consistently safe and high-quality student experiences.

Key Responsibilities:


Instructor Development and Training

  • Conduct 1 structured lesson observation with each new instructor within their first 30 days, focusing on:
    • Retention & coaching
    • Quality assurance
    • Skill development
  • Serve as the primary certified trainer for assigned markets, reducing reliance on the broader instructor base for training coverage.
  • Deliver remedial training as needed to support instructors who require additional coaching or development.

Specialized Instruction

  • Be the go-to instructor for lessons requiring significant accommodations, such as students with unique needs or challenging situations.
  • Model professionalism, best practices, and instructional consistency for the wider instructor team.

Operational Support

  • Provide assistance with vehicle logistics, including inspections, maintenance coordination, and reallocation as needed.
  • Support Office of Licensing inspections (OL) and regulatory compliance checks.
  • Assist with MVC completion, maintenance shuttles, and any other operational needs.

Flexibility and Coverage

  • Maintain availability to flex schedule and assignments in line with business or DIT needs.
  • Adapt hours to support evenings, weekends, or unusual shifts during periods of high need.

Qualifications and Key Attributes for Success:

  • Must be a top-tier instructor with consistently high student feedback, safety records, and professional conduct.
  • At least 12 months of instructional experience (or equivalent proven track record).
  • Certified trainer status (or willingness to obtain certification).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with demonstrated coaching ability.
  • Flexible and adaptable; capable of working independently and supporting multiple priorities.
  • Completion of timely lesson observations and documentation for all new instructors.
  • Demonstrated improvement and retention of instructors who receive remedial training.
  • Positive feedback from students, new instructors, and Operations Managers.
  • Effective operational support as measured by responsiveness and reliability.
  • Alignment with Coastline values, serving as a cultural and instructional role model.
