Job Description

Under the direction of the Medical Director, Clinical Efficiency and Value, the Associate Medical Director will serve as a physician leader responsible for advancing clinical efficiency, appropriateness of care, throughput, and value performance across Cedars-Sinai. This leader will independently manage priority workstreams, partner with operational and physician leaders, lead multi-disciplinary teams, and translate data, evidence, and payer priorities into measurable implementation plans and outcomes. The successful candidate will produce measurable improvement in organizational performance and/or achievement of payer-relevant performance metrics, while maintaining high standards of quality and physician engagement.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Medical Degree from an accredited medical school
  • Board Certification or Board Eligible in clinical specialty (Internal Medicine preferred but not required)
  • Unrestricted California license as a Physician
  • Minimum of five years work experience following completion of training
  • Demonstrated expertise/experience in review and synthesis of evidence-based literature and data, including practice guidelines. Ability to interpret utilization, operational, quality, and financial data and convert findings into action
  • Prior participation in development and implementation of programs to enhance clinical efficiency and appropriateness of care
  • Ability to synthesize information to develop and implement specific plans
  • Strong skills in physician engagement, influence without direct authority, consensus building, and change management
  • Strong written and verbal executive communication skills, including presentation of recommendations to senior leaders
  • Eligible for appointment to the appropriate academic rank in the CSMC Professorial Series.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of value-based care, payer strategy, utilization management, reimbursement fundamentals, and drivers of clinical and operational performance in an academic health system is strongly preferred
  • Experience in clinical informatics, workflow redesign, and application of EHR tools, including clinical decision support, order set optimization, documentation improvement, and other interventions that improve efficiency and appropriateness of care, is strongly preferred

Our compensation philosophy

We offer competitive total compensation that includes pay, benefits, and other incentive programs for our employees. The total pay range shown above takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including knowledge/skills; relevant experience and training; education/certifications/licensure; and other business and organizational factors. This total pay range includes any incentive payments that may be applicable to this role. We also offer a comprehensive faculty benefits package. Pay Range: $250,000-410,000 total cash compensation.
