Associate, Operational Risk

Purpose

Establish and develop policies and procedures of operational risk and work closely with all departments to prepare Risk & Control Assessments and ensure that the Key Risk Indicators framework is followed across the firm.


Responsibilities

  1. Develop and maintain Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) for all main risks in cooperation with other departments. Assess needs and suggest mitigating action for such risks across the firm and develop and implement analytical tools to support these functions.
  2. Coordinate all departments’ bottom-up exercises on operational risk measurements and assessments to ensure the development of KRI’s and regularly review the results of this exercise.
  3. Aggregate and analyse risk events reported by the business units based on Basel 2 categories.
  4. Maintain and update the group’s risk and control registers.
  5. Assist in preparing reports for the Risk Forum, Executive Management and Board Risk & Audit Committee.
  6. Report monthly on the implementation of top and emerging risks’ action plan to the Executive Management.
  7. Assist the Principal Risk Owners and Principal Risk Coordinators with the identification of key risks and mitigating controls within their business units, along with the action plans needed to address any gaps in the mitigating measures identified.
  8. Assist in developing the annual Anti-Fraud training course.
  9. Assist in developing, updating, and reviewing the of Business Continuity Planning framework, policies and procedures.
  10. Ensure compliance with all applicable AML/CTF rules and regulations as required in the conduct of the role.
  11. Ensure timely completion of all relevant AML/CTF training provided by the Group.
  12. Ensure response to AML, CTF & sanctions inquiries in a timely manner.


Job Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics or other related disciplines.
  2. 2–4 years of experience in identifying and assessing business process risks and controls (RCA), developing and monitoring Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), and supporting Operational Risk Management activities.
  3. Knowledge of:
  4. financial markets and the risks associated with them.
  5. international standards for internal controls and enterprise risk management frameworks.
  6. the KRI methodology and implementation as part of an integrated risk platform.
  7. Excellent command of Arabic and English.
  8. Excellent communication skills (written, verbal and listening).
  9. Able to build partnerships and work well in teams.
  10. Can identify problems and refer/escalate complex issues to a higher level.
  11. Multi-tasker, with the ability to meet changing deadlines, and to prioritize and handle multiple projects.
  12. Attention to details; ensure deliverables are always of a high quality.
