Associate, Paralegal II- US Asset Servicing

We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Associate Paralegal II to join our Legal Department team. This role is located in Pittsburgh, PA- or New York, NY

In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways:

  • Supporting the US Asset Servicing business line legal team that has responsibility for servicing registered and unregistered investment funds, investment managers, banks and other financial institutions, public funds, insurance clients, employee benefit trusts, endowments and foundations and other institutional asset owners and supporting BNY’s businesses that develop and license software products and offer related professional services.
  • Assist attorneys in providing legal services to the Asset Servicing business.
  • Draft, review, and revise legal agreements and correspondence specific to Asset Servicing.
  • Assist with drafting, filing and maintaining department form agreements.
  • Process client requests by obtaining relevant information and asking pertinent questions.
  • With general oversight, conduct fact-finding and legal or regulatory research and prepare findings for review by attorneys.
  • Support outside counsel engagements, by arranging critical exchange of information and reviewing incoming documents for relevance and proper dispensation.
  • Maintain, organize and update document files and electronic documentation systems to ensure all documents are easily accessible and to preserve and protect confidential client and firm information. Prior experience using iManage a plus.
  • Communicate with internal and external clients, outside counsel and other BNY stakeholders.
  • Perform administrative tasks as requested such as scheduling appointments, managing calendars, and handling special projects.
  • Contribute to achievement of firm and department objectives.

  • Excellent research, writing, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of legal terminology, procedures, and documentation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research databases.
  • Team player, cooperative attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to function independently.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated initiative, self-motivated and high work standards.
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Paralegal certification from an accredited institution is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working as a paralegal in a law firm or corporate legal department, preferably supporting financial services.

BNY assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base salary for this position is expected to be between $52,000 and $75,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNY total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and company- sponsored benefit programs.

This position is at-will and the Company reserves the right to modify base (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department/team performance and market factors.
