The Associate Project Manager (APM) supports the end-to-end delivery of residential solar and battery projects from sales handoff through installation, inspection, and system activation. You’ll coordinate utility submissions, inspections, homeowner communication, and system monitoring, working closely with Project Managers, installation partners, and utility teams to keep projects on track and customers informed
Customer and Installation Communication
- Call homeowners to confirm installation dates, share project updates, and relay details to PMs for material planning.
- Act as a front-line point of contact for inbound calls or emails from sales and customers.
- Conduct onboarding calls and assist homeowners with monitoring application setup and system monitoring.
- Support follow-up for both low and high NPS scores.
- Occasionally contribute to Install of the Week content highlighting customer or project success.
- Depending on location, occasionally visit AHJs or job sites for permit pickups, photos, or minor material deliveries.
Utility and Permitting Coordination
- Prepare and submit meter collar and interconnection requests via SDG&E, PG&E, and SCE portals; track progress in internal systems.
- Follow up with utility reps to confirm submission status and resolve outstanding items.
- Complete Main Panel Upgrade (MPU) submissions across relevant utilities.
- Coordinate with AHJs for permit issuance, inspection scheduling, and job card retrieval.
- Perform occasional physical runs to AHJs or job sites as needed.
Inspection Management
- Request and schedule electrical, building, and fire inspections; process related invoices and communicate details internally.
- Ensure installation partners use internal tools and AHJ portals to schedule building inspections promptly.
- Conduct weekly inspection status checks with installers.
- Coordinate with third-party inspection vendors when required.
System Setup and Monitoring
- Create new Enphase site entries and support monitoring platform setup for solar installations.
- Maintain working knowledge of monitoring tools to assist homeowners post-installation.
- 1–2 years of experience in solar operations, construction coordination, or customer service
- Excellent attention to detail, organization, and follow-through
- Prior exposure to solar + battery installations, especially Tesla, Enphase, or FranklinWH
- Ability to build trust quickly with installers, inspectors, and utility reps
- Comfort using software tools such as HubSpot, Google Workspace, and utility portals
- A proactive attitude and a desire to grow within solar project management
- Familiarity with California utilities (PG&E, SCE, SDG&E, LADWP) and AHJ permitting and inspection processes.
