Associate Software Engineer

Pay: $28/hr- 30/hr.

Location: Indianapolis, IN – onsite (moving to hybrid)

6-12 month contract to hire

About the Role

As an Associate Software Engineer, you will support the development, maintenance, and improvement of software systems and applications. This role is designed for early-career professionals looking to gain hands-on experience while receiving structured training, mentorship, and professional development through the Brooksource Elevate Program.

What You’ll Do

• Assist in developing and enhancing software applications and system capabilities
• Support testing and quality assurance efforts to ensure reliable performance
• Troubleshoot and resolve basic technical issues with guidance from senior engineers
• Contribute to debugging, maintenance, and improvement of existing software
• Document processes, updates, and technical solutions
• Collaborate with team members to support project goals

What You Bring - Required

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Informatics, or related field
• Foundational knowledge of software development concepts
• Experience with at least one programming language (e.g., Java, Python, C++)
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Effective communication and willingness to learn

What You Bring - Preferred

• Internship, co-op, or 1–2 years of related experience
• Familiarity with development tools, testing, or debugging
• Experience working on team or project-based environments
