Associate Therapist (Mental Health)

Job Summary
We are a 6-Bed residential Mental Health Treatment program. The Therapist is responsible for providing individual and group therapy with clients during the client’s treatment. This individual will have a case load assigned to them and will be responsible for facilitating groups as well as one on one sessions. The responsibility of the position requires that this individual assist clients in recognizing their mental illness, to motivate clients to actively participate in their own recovery and treatment process, assist them with learning skills, and to help them gain knowledge to improve their lives.

Duties

● Maintain a positive and professional relationship with clients, staff, physicians, visitors and other staff.

● Maintain professional boundaries at all times.

● Collect information about clients, using techniques such as assessments, tests, interviews, discussions, and observations.

● Provide detailed Progress Notes for each client as needed.

● Maintain confidentiality of records relating to client’s treatment.

● Prepare and maintain all required treatment records and reports.

● Provide therapy to clients individually and in group sessions, to assist in overcoming dependencies, and maladjustments, aiding them in making positive changes.

● Collaborate with other staff members to perform clinical assessments.

● Attend Treatment Team Staff meetings, and Clinical Supervision (if required)

● Act as client advocate to coordinate required services or to resolve emergency problems in crisis situations.

● Ongoing evaluation of clients' physical and mental condition based on review of client.

● Conduct one on one sessions with clients, meet with families and conduct groups.

● Refer patients, clients, or family members to community resources or to specialists as necessary.

● Communicate with family members to assist them in understanding, dealing with, and supporting clients or patients, when family is available for in person sessions.

● Modify treatment activities and approaches as needed to comply with changes in clients' status.

● Document interactions with client.

● Secure a Consent form from the client advising of MFT Intern status (if applicable) and aspects of confidentiality of therapy.

● Able to work as a team member and have communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.

● Knowledge of applicable treatment modalities for mental disorders.

Capable of working under stressful conditions and be flexible in relation to facility needs

Qualifications

● Attainment of at least 18 years of age.

● Master’s degree in psychology, or Social Work.

● Maintain current MFTI registration, ASW, or LMFT licensure.

● Maintain appropriate professional liability insurance.

● Ability to learn and apply interventions, or techniques, gained from Clinical Supervision.

MFT Intern: knowledge and maintenance of weekly summary of hours, and any information related to gaining hours for MFT Internship.

● Other Requirements: Valid driver’s license, clean driving record and personal automobile insurance. Hiring is contingent upon receiving DOJ/FBI fingerprint clearance or an exemption, a submission of a signed Criminal Record Statement (LIC 508), a TB test, and clearance on an employment physical. Current First Aid and CPR certification is preferred prior to employment.

Pay: $38.00 - $40.00 per hour
