This is a highly complex position operating with considerable independence and must exercise discretion and judgment in evaluating cases for establishing paternity, obtaining medical and child support orders.

Job Duties:

Prepares and try civil suits in courts of primary jurisdiction and in appellate courts involving issues of establishment of CSE paternity and support obligation.

Reviews and approves legal documents.

Provides legal analysis/interpretations of state and federal statues, rules and regulations to ensure agency compliance.

Serves as legal counsel to Regional Child Support Enforcement office.
Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type: :This position may be filled as a probational appointment or a job appointment that may last up to 48 months. Job appointments may convert to probational appointments. Also, it may be filled as a detail and promoted within 12 months or by promotion of a permanent classified employee
Career Progression: May be filled as an Attorney 1-3 depending on experience.
Work Schedule: Typically, work hours are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday – Friday. Flexible work schedules are available after meeting certain criteria and is dependent upon the position you are applying for. Some positions require working shifts.

Compensation:
Special Entrance Rates have been established for the following Attorney job titles:
Attorney 1 $27.08 hourly (AS-617)
Attorney 2 $28.98 hourly (AS-618)
Attorney 3 $32.02 hourly (AS-620)
The referenced positions are also eligible for premium pay of up to $2.00 per hour for hours work based on specific criteria.
