Attorney

Seeking motivated and self-directed contract attorney to represent consumers in debt collection lawsuits, contract litigation defense work, and bankruptcy (chapter 7) for national consumer rights law firm. At least 2-3 years of experience in debtors’ rights practice area and/or consumer bankruptcy is preferred. While litigation and negotiation are the key roles, we seek attorneys who can independently engage in devising strategies to proactively serve the client. If you have a desire to help people protect their rights against creditors and collection agencies, then this is the position for you.

Contract attorneys can work remotely from anywhere and are paid competitive rates. Must have active license in good standing in at least one of the following states: Delaware, Georgia, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia.

Job Type: Part-time, Contract

Pay: Per case basis, potentially up to $5,000.00 - $10,000.00 per month depending upon caseload

Major Duties and Responsibilities

• Managing cases assigned to you.
• Applying a strong understanding of applicable legal policies as well as federal and state regulatory issues.
• Communicating with clients regularly.
• Ensuring compliance with state and federal laws, and adherence to court procedures and processes.

Qualifications and Skills

• Licensed to practice in the relevant state.
• Strong ethics and client communication skills.
• Knowledge of debtor’s rights, the FDCPA and FCRA and related state statutes, and bankruptcy.
• Ability to handle a high caseload effectively.
• Strong critical thinking and strategic skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills, the ability to prioritize, and work in a rapidly changing environment.
• Limited travel for court appearances may be required if remote appearance is not permitted.
