Description

The TennCare Legal Review Attorney Unit is seeking additional support to manage an influx of eligibility appeals and ensure continued compliance with federal timeline requirements. The selected attorney will play a vital role in maintaining the quality and timeliness of appeal reviews.

Note: During an active assignment with the Division of TennCare, selected attorney contractors may be prohibited from practicing law outside of their TennCare assignment due to potential conflicts of interest. Duplicate submissions will be automatically declined. Applicants may be expected to assist with workload in either Litigation or Legal Review based on volume and work demands.Key Responsibilities

  • Research and review appeals in TennCare’s Tennessee Eligibility Determination System (TEDS) database and determine the validity of factual disputes. (25%)
  • Acquire and maintain a comprehensive understanding of Medicaid statutes, regulations, and policies. (25%)
  • Review and monitor cases and appeals to ensure compliance with Medicaid requirements. (25%)
  • Identify issues affecting eligibility determinations and appeals, and propose corrective measures. (25%)

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in Tennessee.
  • Strong ability to foster and maintain collaborative working relationships.
  • Excellent organizational, writing, and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to prioritize, multi-task, and meet strict deadlines.
  • Sound judgment and adaptability to shifting priorities and workloads.
  • Proficiency with multiple computer systems and applications.
  • Ability to interpret and execute public policy effectively.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $55.00 - $60.00 per hour
