The Kansas Office of Revisor of Statues provides legislative legal expertise to the Kansas Legislature. Attorneys in our office are responsible for drafting bills and other legislation, staffing legislative committees, publishing the Kansas Statutes Annotated and offering legal consultation to members of the Kansas Legislature.

Compensation:

Salary: $84,150 for new attorney candidates and salary commensurate with the legal experience of other candidates.

Principle Responsibilities: Under the supervision of the Revisor of Statutes, this attorney serves as nonpartisan legal counsel to the Kansas Legislature, including both political parties, all Senate and House members and all standing and interim committees.

The Assistant Revisor of Statutes duties include:

  • Drafting Legislative legal documents (bills, amendments, reports, and legal memos)
  • Researching legal questions
  • Staffing Legislative committees
  • Assisting in the codification and publication of the Kansas Statutes Annotated

Qualifications: Candidates for this position must be admitted to and in good standing with the Bar of the Supreme Court of Kansas at the time of appointment.
