Osawatomie State Hospital is licensed by the State of Kansas to provide care and treatment for adults diagnosed with psychiatric disorders regardless of ability to pay. There are currently two hospitals on the Osawatomie campus in Miami County: Osawatomie State Hospital (OSH) and Adair Acute Care (AAC). Adair Acute Care is a 60-bed facility, certified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.</b></h3><h3 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>

Position Summary &amp; Responsibilities</b></h1><h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>
Position Summary:</b><b> Custodial Specialists are required to work on patient units and around mentally ill patients. Cleans and sanitizes patient and non=patient areas in a manner which ensures patients receive treatment in a clean, safe environment. The incumbent of this position will follow hospital policies/procedures related to infection control, proper cleaning techniques, disposal of common, medical and/or chemical waste products and any other housekeeping/laundry related policies. The incumbent must be able to meet the physical demands and have the ability to move about the campus, as there is substaintial walking and standing on concrete floors (six to seven hours daily). Bending, crouching, reaching above the head and below the knee are regular daily tasks performed while cleaning of areas. There is considerable lifting, pushing, pulling, bending and stooping to care for laundry items weighing approximately 50 pounds. The ability to lift and carry items weighing at least 50 pounds for short distances is essential, as laundry must be delivered to wards by this means. Work is primarily inside where area can be very hot, humid, and noisy. Outside work is performed under all types of weather conditions. Incumbent must occasionally work at heights of 10 feet. Custodial Specialists may occasionally be required to work past their normal quitting time on short notice and on weekends and holidays as needed.</b></h2><p></p><h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b><br>

Dust mops, mops, and vacuum floors.</li><li>
Assists in maintaining appropriate levels of clean linens in all areas of the hospital including patient and non-patient areas.</li><li>
Sort soiled linens using correct equipment and procedures, load, and unload linens into and from washers, dryers and extractors.</li><li>

Position Description:</b></p><p>
The Program Specialist II position is <b>fully in office,</b> no remote available located in the State Self Insurance Fund (SSIF) of the State Employee Health Benefits Plan (SEHBP) and reports to the Claims Supervisor. This is a Level 2 position in SSIF. The working title is Claims Specialist</p><p><b>
Job Responsibilities:</b></p><p>
The primary duties and responsibilities are as follows:</p><p>
Determine compensability based on facts and according to the provisions of the Workers Compensation Act, rules and regulations, office policy and prior case law. Acknowledge and respond promptly by phone and/or in writing to inquiries from injured workers, physicians, agencies, attorneys and others. Process compensation payments for injured workers. Notify injured worker and agency in writing when the claim is determined not to be compensable. Consult and educate injured workers regarding their rights and benefits, providing them with helpful information in order to access and receive benefits. Calculate and issue indemnity benefits. Compute and order separate checks for payment of child support when applicable. Research, calculate, prepare and negotiate settlements for functional disabilities within authority outlined in SSIF policy and procedures. Complete and determine whether medical bills are reasonable and necessary before approving payment. Verify claimant reimbursement for mileage, per-diem, and out of pocket medical expenses. Maintain effective working relationships with injured workers, agency officials, medical professionals, attorneys, co-workers and management.</p><p>
Collaborate with injured workers, medical providers, Department of Administration, agency personnel and attorneys to maximize early Return to Work. Stimulate return to work discussions when injured workers have not been returned to duty. Coordinate job site evaluations or rehabilitation evaluations as necessary. Advise injured workers that other benefits such as vacation leave, sick leave and Family and Medical Leave Act may apply. Inform agency personnel office of injured workers status for the purpose of coordinating FMLA or other benefits for injured employees. Provide assistance to agencies and employees. Attend the annual DOL Workers Compensation Seminar and all technical training as determined by the administrator.</p><p>
Mediate disputes, when possible, in order to resolve issues and avoid litigation. Provide claimant's counsel with records and information upon demand. Prepare and write a summary of legal issues and theory of defense in cases which require assignment of a defense attorney to argue compensability in preliminary, regular or review and modification settings. Retain management of all claims, including authority for defense measures, forms of settlements and other activities. Obtain settlement authorization from management on all settlements.</p><p>
Receive electronic reports of accidents with a threshold up to $60,000; plan and conduct personal and telephone interviews of claimants, supervisors, witnesses and others relative to the accident (who, what, when, where, who witnessed, primary cause). Write a clear and concise summary of the investigation, findings of fact and conclusions of compensability. Collect personnel records, division records, medical records, wage statement and all other documentation as necessary to determine compensability. When necessary, report claims of fraud and/or abuse to an assistant attorney general for possible prosecution of claimants, attorneys, doctors and others. Determine if there is cause to review evidence to ensure recovery expenditures from negligent third parties, product liability and the Second Injury Fund.</p><p></p><p><b>
Minimum Qualifications</b></p><ul><li>
High School/GED</li><li>
Two years of experience interacting with clients, customers, or the public in a social service, customer service, or problem resolution setting. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.</li><li>

</b></h2><p>This position is responsible for delivering Cognitive Based Intervention (CBI) skills-building classes at NCF while collaborating with others (facilitators, co-facilitators including KDOC staff, contract staff, volunteers and community partners) for case management support in the areas of job preparedness, cognitive issues and family relations for high risk and moderate offenders. Become trained and certified in the cognitive, family relations, career readiness curricula and all other trainings/curricula utilized by KDOC for residents; establish classes and facilitate them for high risk and moderate risk offenders. This position is also responsible to build Advanced Practice (AP) groups of completers, and conduct robust effective AP groups. Identify and implement programs/services for lower risk residents that have less lengthy class room time and address life skill needs such as, but not limited to, financial matters, housing issues and family relations, as needed, The core classes to be trained and certified in, and taught include but are not limited to Adult Core, Career Readiness, Improving Family Relationships, Substance Use Abuse Program, and other cognitive curricula utilized by KDOC, each as assigned. Other classes will be this position's responsibility, including classes of varying lengths/doses, addressing any area of risk/need, as identified by the facility, and directed by the supervisor. Develop and establish a specific strategy related to responsibility, level of motivation and readiness of residents to participate in cognitive classes and case planning; working with counselors and other staff to implement this strategy, including use of an assessment process and strategies to engage residents meaningfully in the process, and sustain that engagement. Also work with Reentry, Unit Team, facility leadership, and partners to ensure that programs are delivered at a time that ensure residents are able to participate in other opportunities, including private industry, work release, and other employment opportunities.</p><p>
This position schedules, monitors and is responsible for all administrative aspects of the classes including forming the classes by working with unit team and through the referral process with direction by the supervisor. Establish a method to review the population in the facility to identify potential participants who are high risk or moderate risk for the appropriate classes which are being facilitated; work with unit team and other staff to engage these residents in classes/work done by this position. Assist supervisor in making placement decisions in classes, ensuring full use of all available slots; addressing readiness and responsivity; monitoring for quality/fidelity (and assisting colleagues at NCF and in other facilities/parole offices in monitoring their classes for quality/fidelity, as directed by the supervisor); track how many residents start and finish; monitor progress to reduce failures; ensure program tracking codes are accurately completed; ensure unit team, parole, mentors, and other staff have feedback about class progress as appropriate; make necessary Athena entries; and any other aspect of the administration of the classes, as directed by the supervisor. This position will also participate in all assigned fidelity and quality assurance strategies, interventions and activities, as assigned. Must prepare program participation summaries upon completion of such classes. Collect whatever data is requested by the statewide team as needed to assess the effectiveness of the services provided through this position.</p><p>
Build on skills taught in the groups through 1:1 sessions, interacting with unit team and multi-discipline teams, all to ensure that the residents have the opportunity to continue practicing skills; that their behavior is the subject of effective responses; that motivation is addressed on an ongoing basis to continue building dose; and to ensure a warm transition, follow-up and aftercare. This position will be prepared to assist with and ensure security issues are addressed, seeking assistance from shift supervisors and security staff. This is to include proper dress and behavior of residents.</p><p>

This position coordinates and conducts fidelity and quality assurance reviews of juvenile community supervision agencies; providing feedback and recommendations to ensure fidelity to evidence-based principles and compliance with KDOC operating standards. This position will work with other division staff to ensure juvenile supervision agencies implement quality assurance practices in accordance with their annual comprehensive plans and in compliance with policies, procedures, statutes and regulations, etc. Developing and maintaining effective working relationships with Directors, staff, advisory board members and other community agencies/partners is necessary in this position.</p><h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>

</b></h2><p>Provides services within the Career Resource Center located at Norton Correctional Facility, including but not limited to employment needs and documents (resumes, cover letters, IDs, job searches, available training/schooling opportunities), community support and resources for the releasee in their area of release, and any educational or grant opportunities (finding, applying and providing the services necessary to the resident releasing). Delivers career readiness programs and other services to incarcerated citizens at Norton Correctional Facility. This includes assessing for risk/need related to job/career readiness; developing individual employment plans in coordination with all relevant partners and the resident; takes steps to implement the plans; delivers all the services available in the resource room; makes connections to and develops employers; and facilitates/co-facilitates Career Readiness and other CBT groups after proper training.</p><p>
Works with returning citizens during and after transition to carry forward career readiness plans and support all necessary steps for the returned citizen to achieve sustained livable wage employment. This includes continuing to address barriers; find resources; communicate with employers; address related issues such as housing, identification/DLs, transportation and the like. Communicate closely with parole, risk reduction specialists, workforce center staff, supports, resources, and anyone else as necessary to support the goal of sustained livable wage employment.</p><p>
Carries out special projects as assigned by supervisor and the Executive Director of Programs and Risk Reduction to address system capacity statewide related to preparing returning citizens to achieve and supporting them in achieving sustained livable wage upon employment. This includes collaborating with adult and higher education partners on projects or pieces of the overall statewide plan; communicating with employers; communicating with returned citizens; tracking/collecting/collating data and information about paths, projects and outcomes; developing and providing information and training supporting the work of the Career Navigators statewide; and otherwise.</p><p>

This position coordinates and conducts fidelity and quality assurance reviews of juvenile community supervision agencies; providing feedback and recommendations to ensure fidelity to evidence-based principles and compliance with KDOC operating standards. This position will work with other division staff to ensure juvenile supervision agencies implement quality assurance practices in accordance with their annual comprehensive plans and in compliance with policies, procedures, statutes and regulations, etc. Developing and maintaining effective working relationships with Directors, staff, advisory board members and other community agencies/partners is necessary in this position.</p><h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>

Position Summary &amp; Responsibilities</b></h1><p><b>
Position Summary:</b> This position is responsible for developing, implementing and delivering cognitive skills-building services, with fidelity to offenders releasing to county and field services. The incumbent will work closely their supervisor (PCII), parole supervisor, lead program manager (PSEI), and collaborate with community stakeholders. This position shall serve as the lead program provider for all Kansas Department of Corrections (KDOC) approved cognitive based programs. In addition, this position will provide effective one on one services to offenders who are not deemed appropriate for a group setting.</p><p><br>
</p><p><b>Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:</b></p><p>
The incumbent in this position is the lead cognitive skills building program provider. The incumbent will be responsible for developing, implementing, coordinating, delivering to fidelity, and documenting approved cognitive skills-building programs to offenders in their assigned area. The incumbent in this position will provide assistance to parole officers in learning and providing skills related to EPICS and cognitive restructuring, for use in case management.</p><p></p><p><br>
This position is responsible for data tracking; reviewing data on cognitive services; reporting trends and outcomes; and otherwise tracking information as needed to determine the number of offenders served; the outcomes of placements or interventions, and the impact of cognitive services.</p><p></p><p><br>
This position will communicate and work directly with parole officers and case managers to identify the best interventions for offenders referred. This will include reporting attendance, progress, or need for one-on-one interventions.</p><p></p><p><br>
Performs other duties as assigned. Attend training and meetings as required.</p><p></p><h1 class="jobSectionHeader"><b><br>
Qualifications</b></h1><p><b>
Education</b>: High School Diploma or Equivalent
</p><p><b>Licensing &amp; Certification</b>: Must be or become trained in cognitive based programs as approved by KDOC.<br>
Will attend parole officer basic training sessions as directed.<br>
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver&rsquo;s License.</p><p><b>
Minimum Qualifications</b>: Six months of experience in planning, implementing and monitoring activities relevant to the agency&rsquo;s programs.</p><div><b>
Preferred Qualifications</b>: &bull; A bachelor&rsquo;s degree with major coursework in criminal justice, the social sciences, the behavioral sciences, or business management or related field. Agency approved substitution for bachelor&rsquo;s degree: 60 semester hours of college credit, with twelve (12) hours in corrections or related field, and three (3) years of experience working with offenders in corrections.<br>
<ul><li>One (1) year of experience working planning, implementing, and monitoring activities relevant to offenders in corrections.</li><li>Self-directed.</li><li>Demonstrates professional alignment with evidence-based practices including cognitive-based skills-building programs, classes and interventions.</li><li>Strong facilitation skills, including ability to be purposeful, engaging and respectful with offenders, and flow with group dynamics during skills-building classes.</li><li>Experience in skills-building, in a group or individual setting.</li><li>Job knowledge in corrections.</li><li>Organizational skills.</li><li>Able to work effectively with a team.</li><li>Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presentation.</li><li>Ability to boundary span between areas of operation.</li></ul></div><p><b>
