Attorney (DSS)

(Salary expectations could be higher with years of related service)

Example of Duties:
Performs complex professional work serving as legal advisor to the Robeson County Department of Social Services and overseeing the preparation and maintenance of legal records and files, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the general direction of the Robeson County Department of Social Services Director.

Education and Experience:
Juris Doctorate and a minimum of three years’ experience in child welfare and adult protective services law. Must have experience with Lexis/Nexis, or comparable online legal research search engine. Must be proficient in Civil Procedure Statutes and Rules and their application in trial practice. Jury trial experience preferred.

Valid North Carolina driver’s license required upon hire and duration of employment. Out of state driver’s license will be accepted only if the individual is a permanent resident of that state.

Must take and successfully pass a pre-employment drug test, Motor Vehicle Records driver license check, as well as submit to random, reasonable suspicion, and post-accident drug and alcohol testing. A criminal background check must be completed by the County of Robeson for potential applicants.
