The New Mexico Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (NMDVR) is a state-run agency dedicated to assisting individuals with disabilities in achieving employment success. Provide legal advice and representation to the Agency and Agency staff concerning all applicable federal and state laws and regulations
How does it get done?

The attorney in this position is responsible for providing legal advice and representation concerning numerous areas of state and federal law, including but not limited to the State Personnel Act, Inspection of Public Records Act, Open Meetings Act, State Procurement Code, State Rules Act, Per Diem and Mileage Act, the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the ADA and FMLA. Other areas of practice include but are not limited to; contract law, employment law, labor relations law and general civil litigation before administrative and court tribunals.

Minimum Qualification

Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited school of law. Must be licensed as an attorney by the Supreme Court of New Mexico or qualified to apply for limited practice license (Rules 15-301.1 and 15-301.2 NMRA). Employment Requirements

All Attorney classifications must be and remain licensed as an attorney, in good standing, by the Supreme Court of New Mexico, or licensed as an attorney and in good standing by the highest court of another state and eligible pursuant to the limited license provisions (See Rules 15-301.1 and 15-301.2 NMRA).

Must travel. If you are able to drive must go through the Defensive Driving Course (DDC), and receive a certificate to operate a State of New Mexico vehicle.
Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office setting: late hours, weekends, on-call and callback work may be required. Will be exposed to regular periods of video display terminal and keyboard usage and stressful situations. Travel is required. Possible exposure to irate clientele. Incumbent will work under stress and frequent time constraints.
