AUCTION CATALOGER

McLaren Auction Services is seeking an enthusiastic, vintage-loving Auction Cataloger who will be responsible for describing and editing compelling and accurate representations of items for our auctions.

JOB DESCRIPTION

• Research and write catalog descriptions for various types of auction inventory including but not limited to: fine art, furniture, vintage & antique jewelry, oriental rugs, glassware, china, collectibles, etc. in an appealing and accurate manner
• Collaborate with the team to correct inaccuracies such as catalog descriptions and photos
• Assist in communications with clients regarding the drop-off or pick up of consignments and winnings. Responsible for following contract and consignment procedures when receiving consignments
• Understand, maintain and utilize the internal inventory systems: Auction programs, Dropbox, Excel
• Physically unpack consignments utilizing the internal inventory procedures
• Auction Night duties: assist guests at live auction events held every four weeks on Wednesday and Thursday nights with occasional weekend auctions (rare).
• Perform job-related duties as assigned; answering phone calls, emails and directing customer questions, etc.

YOUR CREDENTIALS

REQUIRED

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Fluent in English
• Proficient utilization of research tools such as Ebay, Worthpoint, Ask Art, Facebook Groups, as well as an ability to utilize internet searches
• A self-starter who can work independently while maintaining a team-player mentality. Ask lots of questions! We'll teach you everything you need to know!
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to handle high-value property responsibly and respectfully
• Experience with Microsoft Office suite including Outlook and Excel
• Requires physical work; lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling, reaching, and grasping required of objects over 40 pounds
• Standing and walking for 5+ hours each day
• Walking on uneven surfaces, crouching, kneeling or crawling, grasping, squeezing, and fine manipulation
• A sense of humor and a love of antiques!

PREFERRED

• Knowledge and passion for various forms of antiques, vintage, mid-century modern, fine art, jewelry, rare and unusual collectibles, and so much more...
• Personal/professional experience using Craigslist, Ebay, Etsy, Poshmark, Mercari, Proxibid, and other online shopping platforms
• Previous experience with inventory management

FULL TIME position

• Business hours are typically Monday through Friday 9am-4pm. No expectation to stay late.
• 3-5 Saturdays a year, as needed
• 3-5 Sundays a year, as needed
• Schedule: 8 hour shift
• Auction Night on Wednesdays & Thursdays (once every four weeks) from 6pm-11pm, as needed
• Typically Monday to Friday
• Pay: From $16.00 per hour +/- , depending on experience
