Responsibilities

• Develop detailed descriptions and metadata for auction items to facilitate accurate identification and retrieval
• Utilize databases and integrated library systems to input, update, and manage catalog records efficiently
• Conduct research on items to verify provenance, significance, and classification details
• Collaborate with curators and management to organize collections and prepare items for upcoming auctions
• Maintain meticulous records of cataloging activities, updates, and item statuses
• Assist in creating grant proposals or funding applications related to collection development or digitization projects
• Provide excellent customer service by responding to inquiries about cataloged items and auction details

Qualifications

• Proven experience with databases, metadata standards, and integrated library systems in a cataloging or research setting
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Excellent writing skills for creating clear, detailed descriptions and reports
• Demonstrated leadership or management experience in a library, museum, or auction environment
• Knowledge of cataloging standards and best practices in collection management
• Ability to conduct thorough research and verify item information accurately
• Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members and stakeholders
